For the purposes of this regulation, the following definitions apply:
- Quarantine (Cuarentena): Set of sanitary measures based on isolation, restriction of the movement of animals, inputs, materials, equipment, products, and by-products suspected of or affected by a Notifiable Disease (Enfermedad de Declaración Obligatoria), applicable for a variable period depending on the transmissibility of the disease in question, as well as the magnitude and risk of disease transmission in the area.
- Notifiable Disease (Enfermedad de Declaración Obligatoria): Disease included on a list provided by the Veterinary Administration and whose presence must be reported to the Veterinary Authority as soon as it is detected or suspected. These are considered in list "A" of the International Animal Health Code of the International Office of Epizootics.
- Layer Manure (Gallinaza): Excreta of laying hens, in production stages, alone or mixed with other materials.
- Poultry Farm (Granja Avícola): Any place, building, premises, or installation and annexes, covered or uncovered, in which birds are kept or remain in a quantity greater than or equal to one hundred (100) beaks, for the purposes of reproduction, raising, care, fattening, sale, collection, and use of their products and by-products.
- Subsistence Poultry Farm (Granja Avícola de Subsistencia): Any place, building, premises, or installations and annexes, covered or uncovered, in which birds are kept or remain in a quantity less than one hundred (100) beaks.
- Group A Poultry Farm (Granja Avícola Grupo A): A farm with a capacity to house more than one hundred thousand (100,000) beaks.
- Group B-1 Poultry Farm (Granja Avícola Grupo B-1): A farm with a capacity to house from fifty thousand one to one hundred thousand (50,001 to 100,000) beaks.
- Group B-2 Poultry Farm (Granja Avícola Grupo B-2): A farm with a capacity to house from five thousand one to fifty thousand (5,001 to 50,000) beaks.
- Group C Poultry Farm (Granja Avícola Grupo C): A farm with a capacity to house from one hundred to five thousand (100 to 5,000) beaks.
- Installations (Instalaciones): All infrastructure that is built or used to house birds, store feed for the birds, store chemical products used for cleaning and maintenance of the farm, veterinary products, sanitary systems, and any other premises necessary to meet the needs of all activity carried out there.
- MAG: Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
- MS: Ministry of Health.
- Waste Management Plan (Plan de Manejo de Desechos): Process encompassing the storage, treatment, transport, and marketing of broiler litter (pollinaza) or layer manure (gallinaza) and its use or final disposal.
- Broiler Litter (Pollinaza): Excreta of broiler birds or other birds in rearing or development stages, alone or mixed with other materials.
- Treatment System (Sistema de Tratamiento): All installed infrastructure where physical, chemical, or biological operations or processes, or a combination thereof, are carried out for the purpose of treating broiler litter or layer manure so that it can subsequently be used as a source of energy, fertilizer, amendment or soil improver, as a substrate for agricultural crops, or be used in animal diets.
