a. Comply with ethical, technical, administrative, and legal standards in the execution of forest management plans approved by the AFE and, as persons responsible for their execution, ensure that the natural or legal persons who hire them, the stewarded company or person (empresa o persona regentada), and the persons involved in the management plan also comply with them.
b. Verify that the areas defined in the management plan correspond to the forest areas found in the field.
c. Instruct the persons involved in the execution of the forest management plan on the technical, legal, and administrative aspects involved in executing the management plan and inform the stewarded company or person (empresa o persona regentada) about these aspects. This must be indicated in the forest stewardship opening report.
d. Verify that prohibited species have not been included by error among the authorized species and that the identification of trees in the field is correct, both by species and in numbering and location, according to the commercial census.
e. Verify that the machinery being used in forest operations complies with the specifications established in the management plan. Otherwise, they must suspend the work and notify the stewarded company or person (empresa o persona regentada) and the Administración Forestal del Estado in the stewardship report.
f. Include in each report the number and species of each tree cut, according to the information verified in the field.
g. Verify that the design of roads and infrastructure, log yards, and the use of equipment for extraction, during the forest harvesting phase, are carried out in accordance with the provisions established in the forest management plan approved by the AFE and the technical specifications indicated in the approval resolution.
h. Regarding the indication in the preceding point, in the event that during the harvesting phase a change is required in the design of roads, infrastructure, log yards, or the use of extraction equipment approved in the management plan, the steward (persona regente) may propose changes that do not exceed the technical thresholds defined in the current code of practice and may only execute them when they have the authorization of the AFE through a resolution issued for that purpose.
i. Verify and inform the AFE, the Colegio, and the Stewarded Party (Regentado) that the logging and wood extraction work is carried out in accordance with what was approved in the forest management plan.
j. Conduct a visit prior to the start of the execution of the management plan and the additional field visits necessary for its follow-up, issue the respective stewardship reports, and deliver them to the stewarded company or person (empresa o persona regentada) and submit the corresponding stewardship reports and any clarifications or amplifications requested or necessary to the Colegio and the AFE, within the established deadlines.
k. Justify the recommendations they issue, indicating the technical criteria when applicable, in aspects such as: granting or not of incentives, payment for environmental services (pago por servicios ambientales), or whether to continue or close the project, among others.
l. Calculate the volume of wood (cubicaje) at the log yard to request, through a stewardship report, the corresponding transport permits (guías) and tags (placas) from the AFE.
m. Request the transport permits (guías) and tags (placas) for wood transportation from the AFE. The stewarded company or person (empresa o persona regentada) or the steward (regente) duly authorized through the forest stewardship form may pick up the transport permits (guías) and tags (placas). The return of unused transport permits (guías) and tags (placas), if applicable, shall be the responsibility of whoever picked them up. If the steward (regente) is the one who picked them up, the return shall be their responsibility, unless they demonstrate that they delivered them to the stewarded company or person (empresa o persona regentada).
n. Immediately order the stewarded company or person (empresa o persona regentada) to suspend harvesting in the event of anomalies that occur in the execution of the forest management plan and report the anomalies detected to the Colegio and the AFE, through a stewardship report, indicating, among other aspects, the exact location of the anomaly and the concrete description of the facts. The respective report must also be delivered to the stewarded company or person (empresa o persona regentada).
o. Verify that the stumps correspond to the trees authorized for cutting and are duly identified according to the numbering established in the management plan approved by the AFE, during harvesting and at the time of closure.
p. Verify and report, in the closure report, the execution of post-harvest activities in the forest, in accordance with the indicators of sustainability standards, the current code of practice, and the approval resolution for the management plan.
q. Verify that silvicultural treatments are executed according to the management plan or its updates duly approved by the AFE.
