The Iguanita National Wildlife Refuge is created, located in Bahía Iguanita at the head of Bahía Culebra, part of the Quebrada Grande watershed. This Refuge comprises the surface described below: located in the districts of Nacascolo and Sardinal, cantons of Liberia and Carrillo, respectively; topographic map sheet Carrillo Norte No. 3047 I, scale 1:50,000, of the Instituto Geográfico Nacional, starting from a point with coordinates 290400 N - 357900 E, located at the high-water mark (pleamar), on Playa Iguanita; the boundary begins with a northeasterly direction (rumbo noreste), passing through the following points: 290650 N - 358300 E, 290700 N - 358500 E, 290650 N - 358700 E, 290000 N - 358900 E; from here the boundary continues with a southwesterly direction (rumbo suroeste) following the 100 meters above sea level (msnm) contour line, to the point with coordinates 288950 N - 357900 E; it continues with a northwesterly direction (rumbo noroeste) to the point with coordinates 289150 N - 357700 E, located on the coastline. From here the boundary continues with a northeasterly direction (rumbo noreste) along the ordinary high-water mark (línea de pleamar ordinaria) to the point with coordinates 290400 N - 357900 E, which corresponds to the point of origin of this description.
In a strip of 50 horizontal meters on both banks of the Quebrada Grande, the provisions established for protective zones (zonas protectoras) shall apply, in accordance with the provisions of Article 33 of the Forest Law (Ley Forestal), No. 7575, of February 13, 1996, and its amendments.
