Activity: Corresponds to the action that has the highest degree of concreteness and specificity, through which - together with other activities- a component of a project is executed.
Adoption: Process through which an individual acquires technology, appropriates it, and puts it into practice for a utilitarian purpose.
Agricultural: Comprises crops, livestock, natural resources, fishing, aquaculture and marine products, forests, and primary forest products.
Agriculture: Art, science, and industry concerned with the exploitation of plants and animals for human use. In a broad sense, agriculture includes the production of plant and livestock goods to satisfy industrial, energy, clothing, housing, food, and other needs.
Technical assistance: Specialized advisory services directed toward producers, professionals, technicians, traders, agro-industrialists, and others.
Dissemination: Transmission of information under suitable mechanisms and means of communication.
Agricultural extension: Service or organized process that, through the use of participatory procedures, didactics, and techniques, by means of disseminating technical options, helps the population improve knowledge, production methods, and income levels, which impacts the improvement of their quality of life.
Innovation: Innovations are improved or new processes, products, and/or services; that is, it is the incorporation of a change (major or minor) to have a product, process, or service differentiated in some characteristic or property that generates some advantage.
-INTA- National Institute of Innovation and Transfer in Agricultural Technology: Institute created by Law N º 8149 of November 5, 2001, published in La Gaceta N º 225 of November 22, 2001.
Research: Process of systematic and scientific experimental study, aimed at increasing knowledge in science and technology, trying to discover new techniques or little-known or insufficiently studied phenomena.
Plan: Refers to the global aspect of all the activities of a given development process, established within a specific period that may be short, medium, and long term. It is an organized set of ends, objectives, goals, instruments, means, and resources to achieve the development of a determined area.
Program: Refers to a set of projects related and coordinated with each other, all of them as part of the actions to be carried out to achieve the goals and objectives defined in a plan, within a specific period. It can be formulated with varying degrees of detail and depth. The objectives, goals, and assigned resources must be compatible with the objectives, goals, and resources considered by the Plan.
Project: Set of interconnected activities that constitutes the smallest unit that is part of a program and that can be carried out independently of other projects. It seeks to satisfy a specific need or take advantage of a particular opportunity, has start and end dates, and uses material, financial, and human inputs. It is composed of more than one component that corresponds to a specific area of a project.
Agricultural Sector: It is a division of an economic nature, comprising agriculture, forestry, fishing, and aquaculture, including the different phases of the agro-chain and the rural environment.
Agricultural technology: These are the technical options generated and derived from a process of experimentation, research, or agricultural innovation.
Technology Transfer: Multidirectional communication process, in which technological options flow among the different actors in society. It encompasses a series of activities of dissemination, training, and information carried out under different methods and techniques.
Validation: Final stage of the research process, in which a technology or part of it is evaluated by farmers on their farms and under their own production conditions. After validation, the agricultural extension process continues.
Verification: Advanced stage of the systematic research process, in which the researcher comprehensively and extensively (commercially or semi-commercially) verifies a technology nearing release for farmers' use; it corresponds to a stage prior to validation.
