No. 28884-MINAE THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC AND THE MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENT AND ENERGY In the exercise of the powers conferred by Article 140, subsection 3) of the Political Constitution and in accordance with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), approved by Law No. 5605 of October 22, 1974, and the provisions set forth in Articles 6, 7, 12, 14, 18, and 29 of the Wildlife Conservation Law No. 7317 of October 30, 1992.

1st—That it is the function of the Ministry of Environment and Energy to administer wildlife, as well as to dictate measures and establish necessary procedures to ensure the conservation of the country's biological diversity in accordance with current legislation.

2nd—That habitat destruction, poaching (cacería furtiva), environmental pollution, and the illegal trade of live animals or their derivative products have dangerously reduced the populations of some wild fauna species, while others are in imminent danger of extinction within the national territory.

3rd—That some wild fauna species are in the category of very rare or endemic, and therefore require strict control measures to ensure their survival.

4th—That national and international trade endangers the survival of natural populations of several wild fauna species. Therefore, They decree:

Prohibitions

DECREES

Considering:

CHAPTER I

29148 of November 13, 2000.

a)"Heating up" wild birds in cages with traps or catching cages during the unauthorized hunting season.
b)Hunting wild birds with artificial light during the night, as well as capturing birds with adhesives and mist nets.
c)Transporting birds without a permit from SINAC.
d)Hunting songbirds (aves canoras) and plumage birds in the zone comprising one kilometer on both banks of the Virilla River in the area between the bridge over the Virilla River on the General Cañas Highway and the Piedras Negras Bridge on the road connecting Puriscal with Turrúcares de Alajuela.
e)Hunting of all species of resident and migratory wild birds throughout the national territory, with the exception of those indicated in this executive decree.

General Provisions on Hunting

CHAPTER II

The bag limit may be cumulative per hunting day in the case of doves, provided the hunter reports the number of pieces hunted per day to the Rural Assistance Guard (GAR) Delegation or the nearest SINAC office to the hunting zone visited.

a)Tracking of trails prepared for the purposes of the tournament on a specific day; for which the harassment, mistreatment, or killing of wild animals is not authorized.
b)Major and minor hunting activities on hunting estates (fincas cinegéticas) registered with SINAC.
c)Capture of songbirds on authorized hunting dates.

In these cases, participants must carry and display the corresponding valid hunting license.

Hunting tournaments must be supervised by SINAC officials in each Conservation Area.

Minor Hunting with Firearms

CHAPTER III

a)*Colinus leucopogon*: common quail; 10 pieces per day throughout the national territory, except Protected Areas, during the period from September 1st to March 31st.
b)*Zenaida macroura*: mourning dove; *Zenaida asiatica*: white-winged dove; 15 pieces per day throughout the national territory, except Protected Areas, during the period from November 1st to March 31st.
c)*Dendrocygma autumnalis*: black-bellied whistling-duck and *Anas discors*: blue-winged teal; 15 pieces per day throughout the national territory, except Protected Areas, during the period from November 1st to March 31st.
d)*Columba flavirostris*, *Columba subvinacea*, *Columba cayanensis*, *Columba speciosa*, *Columba nigrirostris*; 15 pieces per day throughout the national territory, except Protected Areas, during the period from November 1st to March 31st.

a. Band-tailed pigeon (*Columba fasciata*) during the period from September 1st to January 31st, with a limit of 15 pieces per day, in the following places:

i. On private properties along the margins of the South Inter-American Highway, between kilometer 34 and km 39, between km 41 and km 47, between km 52 and km 55, between Km 57 and km 64 (site known as Madreselva). Only at more than 50 m from the highway boundary and outside the boundaries of the Los Santos Forest Reserve (Reserva Forestal Los Santos) and the Tapantí-Macizo de la Muerte National Park. In the unauthorized zones (between kilometer 39 and km 40, between km 41 and km 46, between km 52 and km 54, and between km 55 and km 56) which include villages at the edge of the highway, hunting will only be permitted on private properties outside the Los Santos Forest Reserve and the Tapantí-Macizo de la Muerte National Park in sites located 1 km or more from the highway.

ii. On private properties, on both margins of the road between Carrizal de Alajuela and Poasito, at more than 50 meters from the road boundaries.

iii. On private properties on both margins of the roads between Tarbaca and Vuelta de Jorco, at more than 50 m from the road boundaries.

b. *Quiscalus mexicanus*: great-tailed grackle; without bag limit, throughout the national territory.

Minor Hunting of Songbirds and Plumage Birds

CHAPTER IV

SONGBIRDS a) Black-faced solitaire, jilguero, (*Myadestes melanops*) from August 1st to October 30th.

b)Yellow-crowned euphonia, monjito (*Euphonia luteicapilla*) from August 1st to September 30th.
c)Yellow-throated euphonia (*Euphonia hirundinacea*) from August 1st to September 30th.
d)White-vented euphonia, canaria (*Euphonia minuta*) from August 1st to September 30th.
e)Scrub euphonia, finito (*Euphonia affinis*) from August 1st to September 30th.
f)Olive-backed euphonia, culo rojo (*Euphonia gouldi*) from August 1st to September 30th.
g)Spot-crowned euphonia, barranquillo (*Euphonia imitans*) from August 1st to September 30th.
h)Yellow-faced grassquit, gallito, semillerito cariamarillo (*Tiaris olivacea*) from August 1st to September 30th.
i)White-collared seedeater (*Sporophila torqueola*) from August 1st to September 30th.

PLUMAGE BIRDS a) Speckled tanager, zebra (*Tangara guttata*) from August 1st to September 30th.

b)Silver-throated tanager, Juanita (*Tangara icterocephala*) from August 1st to September 30th.
c)Golden-hooded tanager, siete colores, mariposa (*Tangara larvata*) from August 1st to September 30th.
d)Spangle-cheeked tanager (*Tangara dowii*) from August 1st to September 30th.
e)House sparrow, eléctrico (*Passer domesticus*) from August 1st to September 30th.
f)Blue-gray tanager, viuda (*Thraupis episcopus*) from August 1st to September 30th.

The bag limit during the open season shall be 2 birds per species per season for hunters with a valid license.

Minor and Major Hunting (except birds)

CHAPTER V

(Guanacaste).

Major and minor hunting is prohibited:

a)In the area delimited by the road and comprised between the following towns: Playa El Coco, Sardinal, San Blas, Paso Tempisque, Filadelfia, Belén, Santa Ana, Coyolillo, Portegolpe, Huacas, and Brasilito; following the coastline north to Playa El Coco.
b)In the zone comprised from the point at coordinates 364,500 and 315,500 on the Murciélago Cartographic Sheet No. 3048-1 on the North Inter-American Highway, following this highway toward the City of Liberia to the road crossing that leads to Hacienda La Esperanza, turning off along this road to Finca Bejuco passing through Sitio Dama, continuing along the road leading to Papagayo to the crossing to Cabuyal, turning off along this road to Playa Cabuyal, continuing along the coast to the point at coordinates 354,500 and 302; Ahogados Cartographic Sheet No. 3048-II, on Cerro Carbonal, boundary of Santa Rosa National Park, continuing along the southern boundary of said park to the initial site at coordinates 364,500 and 315,500 on the Inter-American Highway.
c)In the area comprised between the following points: From Punta Coyote, at coordinates 193950 N - 396400 E, continuing northeast to the road that starts at Caletas, at coordinates 193950 N - 397150 E. Continue northeast along that same road to San Francisco de Coyote, at coordinates 198650 N - 399900 E. Continue NE along the road to Javillo, at coordinates 205925 N - 401725 E. Continue NW along that road to the crossing that goes to Quebrada Grande, at coordinates 207375 N - 396425 E, then continue NW along the road to the crossing that goes to Los Angeles, at coordinates 209525 N - 395675 E, from this crossing continue NW along that road to the crossing with the road to San Ramón (Río Ora), at coordinates 213150 N - 393650 E, continue NW along the road to San Ramón to the intersection going from Cangrejal to San Ramón at coordinates 214275 N - 389850 E. Continue NE along the road to San Ramón to its intersection with the Chiles River at coordinates 214300 N - 389875 E, continue SW downstream along the Chiles River to its confluence with the Ora River, at coordinates 213950 N - 389600 E, continue SW downstream along the Ora River to its mouth at coordinates 205300 N - 376950 E, then continue SE along the shoreline to the initial point at Punta Coyote coordinates 193950 N - 396400 E.
d)In the buffer zone (zona de amortiguamiento) of Barra Honda National Park, comprised in the Cerros Caballito and Quebrada Honda hills, an area delimited by the road leading from Quebrada Honda, Caballito, and Corralillo to the road between Puerto Humo and Nicoya, following this route to the Santa Ana crossing, continuing along this road passing through the towns of Santa Ana and Barra Honda to the road toward Puerto Moreno, continuing to the town of Quebrada Honda, the original starting point. Said area is located on the Talolinga and Matambú cartographic sheets, Province of Guanacaste.

It is authorized:

a)Major and minor hunting on the following days: August 5, 6, 15, 19, and 20; September 2, 3, 15, 16, and 17; October 7, 8, 12, 21, and 22; and November 4, 5, 18, 19.
b)The hunting of quails, ducks, and doves is regulated by the provisions of Articles 9 and 10 of this decree.

(Alajuela, Heredia).

It is prohibited:

a)Major and minor hunting during the period from August 1st to December 31st.

It is authorized:

b)The hunting of quails, ducks, and doves, which is regulated by the provisions of Articles 9 and 10 of this decree.

(Puntarenas, San José).

Major and minor hunting is prohibited in:

a)On San Lucas Island.
b)In the zone comprised in the single district of Parrita, in the canton of Parrita, starting from the town of Valle Vasconia along the road leading to Fila Aguacate until intersecting the channel of the Negro River, following from this point the channel of the same river downstream to its confluence with the Chires River. From this point, follow the channel of this river until it intersects the Puriscal-Parrita road at the town of Vista de Mar; and from here, follow the Costanera Highway until intersecting the Pirris River, upstream until reaching the town of Valle Vasconia.
c)In the zone comprised between: starting in Golfito, following the road leading to Río Claro, continuing along the South Inter-American Highway to the bridge over the Térraba River, in Palmar Sur, continuing along the right bank of the river to Boca Coronado, from this point follow the coastline to the original point located in Golfito.
d)One kilometer on the left bank of the Virilla River in the zone comprised between the bridge over the Virilla River on the General Cañas Highway and the Piedras Negras Bridge on the road connecting Puriscal with Turrúcares de Alajuela.
e)Hunting of the band-tailed pigeon on the banks and roads, as well as within 50 meters on both margins of those areas, and on Cerro el Guabal located at coordinates 205,500 North latitude and 51,800 West longitude, Lambert North, Caraigres Sheet.

It is authorized:

a)Minor and major hunting on the following days: August 5, 6, 15, 19, 20; September 2, 3, 15, 16, 17; October 7, 8, 12, 21, 22.
b)The hunting of quails, ducks, and doves is regulated by the provisions of Articles 9 and 10 of this decree.

(Cartago, Limón) Major and minor hunting is prohibited, with the exception of:

a)Wild rabbits in the Central, Paraíso, La Unión, Jiménez, Alvarado, Oreamuno, and El Guarco Cantons of the Province of Cartago, which may be hunted on the dates of October 9, 10, 23, and 24; November 6, 7, 20, 21.
b)The hunting of quails, ducks, and doves, which is regulated by the provisions of Articles 9 and 10 of this decree.

a)*Odocoileus virginianus*: White-tailed deer; 2 males per year, entire country.
b)*Mazama americana*: red brocket deer; 1 male per year, entire country except the Guanacaste Conservation Area.
c)*Canis latrans*: coyote; 6 pieces per year, subject to season by zones.
d)*Tayassu tajacu*: collared peccary; 1 male per year, only in the districts of Paquera, Cóbano, and Lepanto, Province of Puntarenas.

a)*Didelphis marsupialis*: common opossum; 5 pieces per year, entire country.
b)*Didelphis virginiana*: Virginia opossum; 5 pieces per year, entire country.
c)*Sylvilagus brasilensis*: forest rabbit; 10 pieces per year, entire country.
d)*Sylvilagus floridanus*: eastern cottontail; 10 pieces per year, entire country.
e)*Sylvilagus dicei*: Dice's cottontail; 10 pieces per year, entire country.
f)*Sciurus variegatoides*: variegated squirrel; 10 pieces per year, entire country.
g)*Agouti paca*: lowland paca; 1 piece per year, entire country.
h)*Dasyprocta punctata*: Central American agouti; 2 pieces per year, entire country.
i)*Urocyon cinereoargenteus*: gray fox; 3 pieces per year, entire country.
j)*Mustela frenata*: long-tailed weasel; 3 pieces per year, entire country.
k)*Procyon lotor*: raccoon; 4 pieces per year, entire country.
l)*Nasua narica*: white-nosed coati; 3 pieces per year, entire country.
m)*Ctenosaura similis*: black spiny-tailed iguana; 4 pieces per year, entire country.

Continental Fishing

CHAPTER IV

a)Fishing for trout in the Toro River and its tributaries in the Toro Amarillo district of the Valverde Vega canton.
b)Fishing for other freshwater fish species in all rivers, including their tributaries, lakes, and lagoons (except the Frío, Niño, Pizote, Reventazón rivers and Lake Arenal, subject to the regulations of this Chapter), between September 1st and November 30th inclusive. Outside of this period, fishing is allowed with a limit of 5 pieces with a minimum size of 25 cm in length, per person with a license per day. The tepemechín is excepted, for which no length limit is established.
c)Fishing for river prawn or shrimp (langostino o camarón de río) (*Macrobrachium* spp.) in all national rivers between August 1st and December 31st, inclusive. Outside of this period, fishing is allowed with a limit of 5 pieces per person, per day.
d)Sport fishing in Laguna de Hule, located in the Bosque Alegre Private Wildlife Refuge (Refugio de Fauna Privado Bosque Alegre), Cariblanco.
e)In the Indigenous Reserves (except for subsistence fishing carried out by indigenous people with a permit from SINAC).

a)For Rainbow Trout (*Salmo gairdneri*) in all national rivers; fishing is allowed with a limit of 5 pieces with a minimum size of 25 cm in length, per person per day. Fishing for farmed trout in ponds may be carried out throughout the year.
b)Sport fishing with rod, reel, and hand line, every day of the year in:
1)In the Reventazón River from Palomo de Orosí to its mouth, with the exception of its tributaries. The bag limit is set at 5 fish per angler with a license per day.
2)The Arenal Reservoir. The bag limit is set at 10 fish per angler with a license per day.
3)In the bars of Colorado, Parismina, Tortuguero, and Matina. The bag limit in the cited bars shall be 5 fish per angler per day.

A river bar shall be understood as the channel extending up to one kilometer upstream, starting from its mouth.

Subsistence fishing carried out by indigenous people in the Indigenous Reserves with a permit from SINAC.

1Que son funciones del Ministerio del Ambiente y Energía la administración de la vida silvestre, así como el dictar medidas y establecer procedimientos necesarios para asegurar la conservación de la diversidad biológica del país de conformidad con la legislación vigente.
2Que la destrucción del hábitat, la cacería furtiva, la contaminación ambiental y el comercio ilegal de animales vivos o sus productos derivados han disminuido peligrosamente las poblaciones de algunas especies de fauna silvestre, al tiempo que otras se encuentran en inminente peligro de extinción en el territorio nacional.
3Que algunas especies de fauna silvestre se encuentran en la categoría de muy raras o endémicas por lo que requieren estrictas medidas de control para asegurar su supervivencia.
4Que el comercio nacional e internacional pone en peligro la supervivencia de poblaciones naturales de varias especies de fauna silvestre. Por tanto,

Regulaciones para la Caza Menor y Mayor y Pesca Continental e Insular.

Prohibiciones

Considerando:

Decretan:

CAPÍTULO I

a)"Calentar" aves silvestres en jaulas con trampas o jaulas cogedoras durante la temporada no autorizada para la caza.
b)La caza de aves silvestres con luz artificial durante la noche, al igual que la captura de aves con pegamentos y redes de niebla.
c)Trasladar aves sin permiso del SINAC.
d)La caza de aves canoras y de plumaje en la zona comprendida un kilometro en ambas márgenes del Río Virilla en la zona comprendida entre el puente sobre el Río Virilla en la autopista General Cañas y el Puente de Piedras Negras en la Carretera que comunica Puriscal con Turrúcares de Alajuela.
e)La caza de todas las especies de aves silvestres residentes y migratorias en todo el territorio nacional, con excepción de las que se indique en el presente decreto ejecutivo.

Generalidades sobre la caza

CAPÍTULO II

El límite de piezas podrá ser acumulativo por días de caza en el caso de palomas siempre y cuando el cazador reporte el número de piezas cazado por día, en la Delegación de la Guardia de Asistencia Rural (GAR) o en la oficina del SINAC más cercana a la zona de caza visitada.

a)Rastreo de huellas preparadas para los efectos del torneo en un día determinado; para lo cual no se autoriza el acoso, maltrato o muerte de animales silvestres.
b)Actividades de caza mayor y menor en fincas cinegéticas inscritas ante el SINAC.
c)Captura de aves canoras en fechas autorizadas para la caza.

En estos casos, los participantes deberán portar y mostrar la correspondiente licencia de caza vigente.

Los torneos de caza deberán ser fiscalizados por funcionarios del SINAC en cada Área de Conservación.

Caza menor con arma de fuego

CAPÍTULO III

a)Colinus leucopogon: codorniz común; 10 piezas por día en todo el territorio nacional, excepto Áreas Protegidas, en el período comprendido entre el 1 de setiembre y el 31 de marzo.
b)Zenaida macroura: paloma arrocera; Zenaida asiática: paloma alablanca, 15 piezas por día en todo el territorio nacional, excepto Áreas Protegidas, en el período comprendido entre el 1 de noviembre y el 31 de marzo.
c)Dendrocygma autumnalis: piches alablanca y Anas discor: cerceta aliazul, 15 piezas por día en todo el territorio nacional, excepto Áreas Protegidas, en el período comprendido entre el 1 de noviembre y el 31 de marzo.
d)Columba flavirostris, Columba subvinacea, Columba cayanensis, Columba speciosa, Columba nigrirostris, 15 piezas por día en todo el territorio nacional, excepto Areas Protegidas, en el período comprendido entre el 1 de noviembre y el 31 de marzo.

a. Paloma collareja (Columba fasciata) durante el período comprendido del 1º de setiembre al 31 de enero, con un límite de 15 piezas por día, en los siguientes lugares:

i. En fincas privadas en las márgenes de la Carretera Interamericana Sur, entre el kilometro 34 hasta el km. 39, entre el km. 41 y el km. 47, entre el km. 52 y el km. 55, entre el Km. 57 y el km. 64 (sitio conocido como Madreselva). Unicamente a más de 50 mts. del límite de la carretera y fuera de los límites de la Reserva Forestal Los Santos y El Parque Nacional Tapantí Macizo de la Muerte. En las zonas no autorizadas (entre el kilometro 39 al km. 40, entre el km. 41 al km. 46, entre el km. 52 al km. 54, y entre el km. 55 al km. 56) que incluye poblados a la orilla de la carretera solo se permitirá la caza en fincas particulares fuera de la Reservas Forestal Los Santos y El Parque Nacional Tapantí Macizo de la Muerte en sitios que se ubiquen a 1 km. o más de la carretera.

ii. En fincas privadas, en ambas márgenes de la carretera entre Carrizal de Alajuela y Poasito, a más de 50 metros de los límites de carretera.

iii. En fincas privadas en ambas márgenes de las carreteras entre Tarbaca y Vuelta de Jorco, a más de 50 mts de los límites de carretera.

b. Quiscalus mexicanus: zanate; sin límite de piezas, en todo el territorio nacional.

Caza menor de aves canoras y de plumaje

CAPÍTULO IV

AVES CANORAS a) Solitario carinegro, jilguero, (Myadestes melanops) del 1º de agosto al 30 de octubre.

b)Aguío coroniamarillo, monjito (Euphonia luteicapilla) del 1º de agosto al 30 de setiembre.
c)Aguío gorgiamarillo (Euphonia hirundinacea) del 1º de agosto al 30 setiembre.
d)Euphonia menuda, canaria (Euphonia minuta) del 1º de agosto al 30 setiembre.
e)Finito gargantinegra, finito (Euphonia affinis) del 1º de agosto al 30 setiembre.
f)Aguío olivaceo, culo rojo (Euphonia gouldi) del 1º de agosto al 30 setiembre.
g)Mongito vientrirojo, barranquillo (Euphonia imitans) del 1º de agosto al 30 setiembre.
h)Gallito, semillerito cariamarillo (Tiaris olivacea) del 1º de agosto al 30 de setiembre.
i)Setillero collarejo (Sporophila torqueola) del 1º de agosto al 30 de setiembre.
j)Setillero garganta negra (Sporophila aurita) del 1º de agosto al 30 de setiembre.

AVES DE PLUMAJE a) Tangara moteada, zebra (Tangara guttata) del 1º de agosto al 30 de setiembre.

b)Tangara dorada, Juanita (Tangara icterocephata) del 1º de agosto al 30 de setiembre.
c)Tangara capuchidorada, siete colores, mariposa (Tangara larvata) del 1º de agosto al 30 de setiembre.
d)Tangara vientricastaña (Tangara dowii) del 1º de agosto al 30 de setiembre.
e)Gorrión común, eléctrico (Passer domesticus) del 1º de agosto al 30 de setiembre.
f)Tangara azuleja, viuda (Thraupis episcopus) del 1º de agosto al 30 setiembre.

El límite de piezas a cazar durante el período no vedado será de 2 aves por especie por temporada para cazadores con licencia vigente.

De la caza menor y mayor (excepto aves)

CAPÍTULO V

(Guanacaste).

Se prohibe la caza mayor y menor:

a)En el área delimitada por la carretera y comprendida entre las siguientes poblaciones: Playa El Coco, Sardinal, San Blas, Paso Tempisque, Filadelfia, Belén, Santa Ana, Coyolillo, Portegolpe, Huacas y Brasilito; siguiendo la línea de la costa en dirección norte hasta la Playa El Coco.
b)En la zona comprendida entre el punto de las coordenadas 364,500 y 315,500 de la Hoja Cartográfica Murciélago Nº 3048-1 sobre la Carretera Interamericana Norte, siguiendo por esta carretera hacia la Ciudad de Liberia hasta el Cruce de Camino que conduce a la Hacienda La Esperanza, desviándose por esta camino hasta la Finca Bejuco pasando por el Sitio Dama, continuando por el camino que conduce a Papagayo hasta el cruce a Cabuyal desviándose por este camino hasta Playa Cabuyal, continuando por la costa hasta el punto de coordenadas 354,500 y 302; Hoja Cartográfica Ahogados Nº 3048-2, en el Cerro Carbonal, limite del Parque Nacional Santa Rosa, continuando por el límite sur de dicho parque hasta el sitio inicial en coordenadas 364,500 y 315,500 sobre la Carretera Interamericana.
c)En el área comprendida entre los siguientes puntos: De Punta Coyote, en coordenadas 193950 N - 396400 E, siguiendo al noreste al camino que inicia en Caletas, en coordenadas 193950 N - 397150 E. Se continúa al noreste por ese mismo camino hasta San Francisco de Coyote, en coordenadas 198650 N - 399900 E. Se sigue al NE por el camino hasta Javillo, en coordenadas 205925 N - 401725 E. Sigue al NW por ese camino hasta el cruce que va hacia Quebrada Grande, en coordenadas 207375 N - 396425 E, continúa luego al NW por el camino hasta el cruce que va hacia Los Angeles, en coordenadas 209525 N - 395675 E, de este cruce se continúa al NW por ese camino hasta el cruce con el camino a San Ramón (Río Ora), en coordenadas 213150 N - 393650 E, continúa al NW por el camino a San Ramón hasta la intersección que va de Cangrejal a San Ramón en coordenadas 214275 N - 389850 E. Sigue al NE por el camino a San Ramón hasta la intersección de este con el Río Chiles en coordenadas 214300 N - 389875 E, continúa al SW aguas abajo del Río Chiles hasta su confluencia con el Río Ora, en coordenadas 213950 N - 389600 E, continúa al SW aguas abajo del Río Ora hasta su desembocadura en coordenadas 205300 N - 376950 E, sigue luego al SE por la orilla de la playa hasta el punto inicial en Punta Coyote coordenadas 193950 N - 396400 E.
d)En la zona de amortiguamiento del Parque Nacional Barra Honda, comprendida en los cerros Caballito y Quebrada Honda, área delimitada por el camino que conduce de Quebrada Honda, Caballito y Corralillo hasta encontrar el camino entre Puerto Humo y Nicoya, siguiendo por esta ruta hasta el cruce de Santa Ana, continuando por este camino pasando por los poblados de Santa Ana y Barra Honda hasta la carretera hacia Puerto Moreno, siguiendo hasta el poblado de Quebrada Honda, punto original de partida. Dicha área se encuentra ubicada en las hojas cartográficas Talolinga y Matambú, Provincia de Guanacaste.

Se autoriza:

a)La caza mayor y menor los siguientes días 5, 6, 15, 19 y 20 de agosto; 2, 3, 15, 16 y 17 de setiembre; 7, 8, 12, 21 y 22 de octubre y 4, 5, 18, 19 de noviembre.
b)La caza de codornices, patos y palomas se regula por lo establecido en los artículos 9 y 10 del presente decreto.

(Alajuela, Heredia).

Se prohibe:

a)La caza mayor y menor durante el período comprendido entre el 1 de agosto y el 31 de diciembre.

Se autoriza:

b)La caza de codornices, patos y palomas, que se regula por lo establecido en los artículos 9 y 10 del presente decreto.

(Puntarenas, San José).

Se prohibe la caza mayor y menor en:

a)En la Isla San Lucas.
b)En la zona comprendida en el distrito único Parrita, del cantón de Parrita, partiendo del poblado de Valle Vasconia entre el camino que conduce a la Fila Aguacate hasta intersectar el cauce del Río Negro, siguiendo a partir de este punto el cauce del mismo río aguas abajo hasta su confluencia con el Río Chires. A partir de este punto se sigue el cauce de este río hasta intersectar la carretera Puriscal-Parrita a la altura del poblado de Vista de Mar; y de aquí se sigue la Carretera Costanera hasta intersectar el Río Pirris, aguas arriba hasta llegar al poblado de Valle Vasconia.
c)En la zona comprendida entre: iniciando en Golfito, siguiendo por la carretera que conduce hasta Río Claro, continuando por la Carretera Interamericana Sur hasta el puente sobre el Río Térraba, en Palmar Sur, continuando por la margen derecha del río hasta la Boca Coronado, de este punto se sigue la por la costa hasta el punto original ubicado en Golfito.
d)Un Kilometro en la margen izquierda del Río Virilla en la zona comprendida entre el puente sobre el Río Virilla en la autopista General Cañas y el Puente de Piedras Negras en la Carretera que comunica Puriscal con Turrúcares de Alajuela.
e)La caza de la paloma collareja en las orillas y en la carreteras, así como en los 50 metros en ambas márgenes de esas áreas y en el Cerro el Guabal ubicado en coordenadas 205.500 latitud Norte y 51.800 longitud oeste, Lambert Norte, Hoja Caraigres.

Se autoriza:

a)La caza menor y mayor los siguientes días: 5, 6, 15, 19, 20 de agosto; 2, 3, 15, 16, 17 de setiembre; 7, 8, 12, 21, 22 de octubre.
b)La caza de codornices, patos y palomas se regulan por lo establecido en los artículos 9 y 10 del presente decreto.

(Cartago, Limón) Se prohíbe la caza mayor y menor, con excepción de:

a)Los conejos silvestres en los Cantones Central, Paraíso, La Unión, Jiménez, Alvarado, Oreamuno y El Guarco de la Provincia de Cartago que se podrán cazar en las fechas 9, 10, 23 y 24 de octubre; 6, 7, 20, 21 de noviembre.
b)La caza de codornices, patos y palomas que se regulan por lo establecido en los artículos 9 y 10 del presente decreto.

a)Odocoileus virginianus: Venado cola blanca; 2 machos por año, todo el país.
b)Mazama americana: cabro de monte. 1 macho por año, todo el país excepto el Area de Conservación Guanacaste.
c)Canis latrans: coyote; 6 piezas por año, sujeto a temporada por zonas.
d)Tayassu tajacu: sahino; 1 macho por año, solo en los distritos de Paquera, Cóbano y Lepanto, Provincia de Puntarenas.

a)Didelphis marsupialis: zorro pelón; 5 piezas por año, todo el país.
b)Didelphis virginiana: zorro pelón; 5 piezas por año, todo el país.
c)Sylvilagus brasilensis: conejo de monte; 10 piezas por año, todo el país.
d)Sylvilagus floridanus: conejo de monte; 10 piezas por año, todo el país.
e)Sylvilagus dicei: conejo de altura; 10 piezas por año, todo el país.
f)Sciurus variegatoides: ardilla común; 10 piezas por año, todo el país.
g)Agouti paca: tepezcuintle; 1 pieza por año, todo el país.
h)Dasyprocta punctata: guatusa; 2 piezas por año, todo el país.
i)Urocyon cineroargenteus: tigrillo, zorra gris; 3 piezas por año, todo el país.
j)Mustela frenata: comadreja; 3 piezas por año, todo el país.
k)Procyon lotor: mapache; 4 piezas por año, todo el país.
l)Nassua narica: pizote; 3 piezas por año, todo el país.
m)Ctenosaura similis: garrobo; 4 piezas por año, todo el país.

De la pesca continental

CAPÍTULO IV

a)La pesca de la trucha en el río Toro y sus afluentes en el distrito Toro Amarillo del cantón de Valverde Vega.
b)La pesca de las demás especies de peces de agua dulce en todos los ríos incluyendo sus afluentes, lagos y lagunas (excepto el río Frío, Niño, Pizote, Reventazón y lago Arenal con sujeción a las regulaciones de este Capítulo), entre el 1 de setiembre y el 30 de noviembre inclusive. Fuera de ese plazo se podrá pescar con un límite de 5 piezas con un tamaño mínimo de 25 cm. de longitud, por persona con licencia por día. Se exceptúa el tepemechín, para el cual no se establece límite de longitud.
c)La pesca del langostino o camarón de río (Macrobrachium spp.) en todos los ríos nacionales entre el 1 de agosto y el 31 de diciembre, inclusive. Fuera de este plazo, se podrá pescar con un límite de 5 piezas por persona, por día.
d)La pesca deportiva en la Laguna de Hule, ubicada en el Refugio de Fauna Privado Bosque Alegre, Cariblanco.
e)En las Reservas Indígenas (excepto la pesca de subsistencia que realicen los indígenas con permiso del SINAC).

a)De trucha Arco Iris (Salmo gardnieri) en todos los ríos nacionales; se podrá pescar con un límite de 5 piezas con un tamaño mínimo de 25 cm. de longitud, por persona por día. La pesca de truchas cultivadas en estanques se pueda realizar durante todo el año.
b)La pesca deportiva con caña, carrete y cuerda de mano, todos los días del año en:
1)En el río Reventazón desde Palomo de Orosí hasta su desembocadura, con excepción de sus afluentes. El límite de piezas se establece en 5 peces por pescador con licencia por día.
2)El Embalse de Arenal. Se establece el límite de piezas en 10 peces por pescador con licencia por día.
3)En las Barras de Colorado, Parismina, Tortuguero y Matina. El límite de piezas en las barras citadas será de 5 peces por pescador por día.

Se entenderá por barra de un río como el cauce comprendido hasta un kilómetro aguas arriba, partiendo de su desembocadura.

La pesca de subsistencia que realicen los indígenas en las Reservas Indígenas con permiso del SINAC.

Regulations for Minor and Major Hunting and Continental and Insular FishingRegulaciones para la Caza Menor y Mayor y Pesca Continental e Insular

Artículo 1 — —Repealed by Article 26 of Executive Decree No.

Artículo 3 — —During the period from August 1st to December 31st of the year 2000 (both dates inclusive), the following is prohibited:

Artículo 4 — —Subsistence hunting is authorized for persons of indigenous origin who inhabit Indigenous Reserves in the country, provided they have the respective permit from SINAC.

Artículo 5 — —During the period from August 1st to December 31st of the year 2000 (both dates inclusive), hunting or capture of species that do not appear on the lists of species authorized for hunting is prohibited.

Artículo 6 — —In the case of private properties, hunters must obtain the corresponding permission from the owner, in accordance with the provisions of Article 32 of the Wildlife Conservation Law.

Artículo 8 — —Las Areas de Conservación del Sistema Nacional de Áreas de Conservación (SINAC) podrán autorizar la realización de torneos de caza, mediante resolución administrativa, solo cuando se trate de:

Artículo 9 — —Podrán cazarse con arma de fuego en tiempo no vedado las siguientes especies de aves de caza menor, en un horario de 6,00 a.m. a 5,00 p.m., durante los días sábado, domingo y feriados por ley con un límite máximo de piezas de:

Artículo 11 — —Es prohibida la caza menor de las siguientes aves canoras, de plumaje, y otras especies silvestres en las Zonas 1, 2, 3 y 4 en el período que a continuación se indica:

Artículo 12 — —Es prohibida la exhibición de aves canoras o de plumaje en las ferias del agricultor.
