Prohibitions

• a)"Calentar" (exposing to the sun) wild birds in cages with traps or trapping cages during days not authorized for hunting.
• b)Hunting wild birds with artificial light during the night, as well as capturing birds with adhesives and mist nets (redes de niebla).
• c)The movement within the country of birds in cages with traps or trapping cages during seasons not authorized for hunting.
• d)The hunting of all species of resident and migratory wild birds throughout the national territory, with the exception of those indicated in this Executive Decree.
• e)Transporting songbirds (aves canoras) or plumage birds without the respective permits from SINAC.

• a)Wild songbirds and plumage birds, in the districts of Los Angeles, Piedades Norte, and San Rafael of the canton of San Ramon, the district of Monterrey of San Carlos; in the area comprised between the road leading from San Ramon to La Fortuna between the La Esperanza and Burro rivers, left bank up to adjoining the Bosque Eterno de los Niños in the districts of La Tigra of San Carlos and San Isidro de Peñas Blancas of the canton of San Ramon.
• b)Wild songbirds and plumage birds in the cantons of Puriscal, Turrubares, Mora, Dota, and Tarrazu of the province of San Jose.
• c)Songbirds and plumage birds in the canton of Aguirre, province of Puntarenas.
• d)The hunting of the jilguero (Myadestes melanops) in:

1). The canton of Perez Zeledon and in the Fila Cruces, starting from point 1, located at the bridge over the Rio Piedras Blancas on the Carretera Interamericana Sur up to point 2 in Ciudad Neily, continuing along the road leading to point 3 in San Vito de Coto Brus, following the road towards Paso Real, passing through La Union up to point 4 located at the crossroads to San Gerardo, from this point continuing towards point 5, in Paraiso, continuing with a straight line heading southwest to the headwaters (nacientes) of the Rio Piedras Blancas, point 6; continuing along the left bank downstream to the bridge on the Carretera Interamericana Sur, starting point.

2). The central district of the canton of Turrialba and the canton of Jimenez, province of Cartago.

3). In the one-kilometer-wide buffer zone (zona de amortiguamiento) around the Braulio Carrillo National Park and the Cordillera Volcanica Central Forest Reserve (Reserva Forestal).

• e)One kilometer on both banks of the Rio Virilla, in the area comprised between the bridge on the Autopista General Cañas and the Puente de Piedras Negras on the road connecting Puriscal with Turrucares de Alajuela.

Songbirds a) Solitario carinegro, jilguero, (Myadestes melanops) from March 1 to October 30.

• b)Aguio coroniamarillo, monjito (Euphonia luteicapilla) from January 1 to September 30.
• c)Aguio gorgiamarillo (Euphonia hirundinacea) from January 1 to September 30.
• d)Euphonia menuda, canaria (Euphonia minuta) from January 1 to September 30.
• e)Finito gargantinegra, finito (Euphonia affinis) from January 1 to September 30.
• f)Aguio olivaceo, culo rojo (Euphonia gouldi) from January 1 to September 30.
• g)Mongito vientrirojo, barranquillo (Euphonia imitans) from January 1 to September 30.
• h)Gallito, semillerito cariamarillo (Tiaris olivacea) from April 1 to September 30.
• i)Setillero collarejo (Sporophila torqueola) from April 1 to September 30.
• j)Setillero garganta negra (Sporophila aurita) from April 1 to September 30.

Plumage birds a) Mielero patirrojo, picudo patas rojas (Cyanerpes lucidus) from March 1 to November 30.

• b)Mielero luciente, picudo patas amarillas (Cyanerpes cyaneus) from March 1 to November 31.
• c)Tangara moteada, zebra (Tangara guttata) from March 1 to September 30.
• d)Tangara dorada, Juanita (Tangara icterocephata) from March 1 to September 30.
• e)Tangara capuchidorada, siete colores, mariposa (Tangara larvata) from March 1 to September 30.
• f)Tangara vientricastaña (Tangara dowii) from March 1 to September 30.
• g)Gorrion común, electrico (Passer domesticus) from May 1 to September 30.
• h)Tangara azuleja, viuda (Thraupis episcopus) from May 1 to September 30.

Minor hunting of birds with a firearm a) Band-tailed pigeon (Paloma collareja) (Columba fasciata) during the period from February 1 to August 31.

• b)Mourning dove (Paloma arrocera) (Zenaida macroura), white-winged dove (paloma alablanca) (Zenaida asiatica), from April 1 to October 31.
• c)Black-bellied whistling duck (Piches alablanca) (Dendrocygma autumnalis) and Blue-winged teal (Cerceta aliazul) (Anas discor) from April 1 to October 31.
• d)Common quail (Codorniz común) (Colinus leucopogon) from April 1 to September 30.
• e)Red-billed pigeon (Paloma morada) (Columba flavirostris, Columba subvinacea, Columba cayanensis, Columba speciosa, Columba nigrirostris) from March 1 to September 30.

Authorizations for Minor Bird Hunting

• a)In authorized time and technically with one trapping cage (jaula cogedora) per person.
• b)2 adult males of each species per hunting season, throughout the national territory.
• c)Only on Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• a)Common quail (Colinus leucopogon), 10 pieces per day per season, throughout the national territory in the period from October 1 to March 31.
• b)Great-tailed grackle (Zanate) (Quiscalus mexicanus), without bag limit, throughout the national territory, on authorized dates for hunting in each zone (Articles 10, 11, 12, 13 of this decree).
• c)Mourning dove (Zenaida macroura); white-winged dove (Zenaida asiatica), 20 pieces per day, throughout the national territory, in the period from November 1 to March 31.
• d)Black-bellied whistling duck (Dendrocygma autumnalis) and blue-winged teal (Anas discor), 15 pieces per day, throughout the national territory, in the period from November 1 to March 31.
• e)Red-billed pigeon (Columba flavirostris, Columba subvinacea, Columba cayanensis, Columba speciosa, Columba nigrirostris), 10 pieces per day, throughout the national territory, in the period from October 1 to February 29.
• g)Band-tailed pigeon (Columba fasciata), 15 pieces per day, in the period from September 1 to January 31, in the following places:

1. On private farms on the margins of the Carretera Interamericana Sur, between Kilometer 34 and km 39, between km 41 and km 47, between km 52 and km 55, between Km 57 and km 64 (site known as Madreselva). Only more than 50 m from the road boundary and outside the boundaries of the Los Santos Forest Reserve (Reserva Forestal Los Santos) and the Tapanti Macizo de la Muerte National Park. In unauthorized areas (between kilometer 39 and km 40, between km 41 and km 46, between km 52 and km 54, and between km 55 and km 56) that include villages at the roadside, hunting will only be permitted on private farms outside the Los Santos Forest Reserve and the Tapanti Macizo de la Muerte National Park in sites located 1 km or more from the road.

2. On private farms, on both margins of the road between Carrizal de Alajuela and Poasito, more than 50 meters from the road boundaries.

3. On private farms on both margins of the roads between Tarbaca and Vuelta de Jorco, more than 50 m from the road boundaries.

Hunting Zones

Zone 1. Province of Guanacaste Zone 2. Provinces of Alajuela and Heredia Zone 3. Provinces of Puntarenas and San Jose Zone 4. Provinces of Cartago and Limon

On Minor and Major Hunting with Bow and Arrow, Firearms, Knife, and Dogs

(Guanacaste). Major and minor hunting with bow and arrow, firearm, knives, or dogs is prohibited, as detailed in the following subsections:

• a)With the exception of the following days: July 7, 8, 21, 22, and 25; August 2, 4, 5, 15, 18, and 19; September 1, 2, 15, and 16; October 6, 7, 12, 20, and 21; and November 3, 4, 17, and 18.
• b)In the area delimited by the road and comprised between the following towns: Playa El Coco, Sardinal, San Blas, Paso Tempisque, Filadelfia, Belen, Santa Ana, Coyolillo, Portegolpe, Huacas, and Brasilito; following the coastline northwards to Playa El Coco.
• c)In the area comprised from the point of coordinates 364,500 and 315,500 on the cartographic sheet Murcielago N° 3048-1 on the Carretera Interamericana Norte, following this highway towards the city of Liberia up to the road junction leading to Hacienda La Esperanza, turning off along this road to Finca Bejuco passing through the site Dama, continuing along the road leading to Papagayo up to the crossroads to Cabuyal, turning off along this road to Playa Cabuyal, continuing along the coast to the point of coordinates 354,500 and 302; Cartographic Sheet Ahogados N° 3048-2, at Cerro Carbonal, boundary of the Santa Rosa National Park, continuing along the southern boundary of said park to the initial site at coordinates 364,500 and 315,500 on the Carretera Interamericana.
• d)In the area comprised between the following points: from Punta Coyote, at coordinates 193950 N - 396400 E, going northeast to the road that begins in Caletas, at coordinates 193950 N - 397150 E. Continue northeast along that same road to San Francisco de Coyote, at coordinates 198650 N - 399900 E. Continue northeast along the road to Javillo, at coordinates 205925 N - 401725 E. Continue northwest along that road to the crossroads going to Quebrada Grande, at coordinates 207375 N - 396425 E, then continue northwest along the road to the crossroads going to Los Angeles, at coordinates 209525 N - 395675 E, from this crossroads continue northwest along that road to the junction with the road to San Ramon (Rio Ora), at coordinates 213150 N - 393650 E, continue northwest along the road to San Ramon up to the intersection going from Cangrejal to San Ramon at coordinates 214275 N - 389850 E. Continue northeast along the road to San Ramon to its intersection with the Rio Chiles at coordinates 214300 N - 389875 E, continue southwest downstream along the Rio Chiles to its confluence with the Rio Ora, at coordinates 213950 N - 389600 E, continue southwest downstream along the Rio Ora to its mouth at coordinates 205300 N - 376950 E, then continue southeast along the shore to the initial point at Punta Coyote coordinates 193950 N - 396400 E.
• e)In the area comprised in the Cerros Caballito and Quebrada Honda, area delimited by the road leading from Quebrada Honda, Caballito, and Corralillo until reaching the road between Puerto Humo and Nicoya, following this route to the Santa Ana junction, continuing along this road passing through the towns of Santa Ana and Barra Honda to the road to Puerto Moreno, continuing to the town of Quebrada Honda, original point of departure. Said area is located on the cartographic sheets Talolinga and Matambu, Province of Guanacaste.
• f)The brocket deer (cabro de monte) (Mazama americana) in the entire province of Guanacaste.

(Alajuela, Heredia) Major and minor hunting with bow and arrow, firearm, knives, or dogs is prohibited, as detailed in the following subsections:

• a)With the exception of the following days: January 1, 6, 7, 20, and 21; February 3, 4, 17, and 18; March 3, 4, 17, and 18; April 7, 8, 11, 21, and 22; and May 1, 5, 6, 19, and 20.
• b)In the canton of Grecia and in the districts of Piedades Norte, Los Angeles, Santiago, Piedades Sur, San Rafael, and Zapotal of the canton of San Ramon; the district of Monterrey of the canton of San Carlos.
• c)In the area comprised between the road leading from San Ramon to La Fortuna between the La Esperanza and Rio Burro rivers, left bank up to adjoining the Bosque Eterno de los Niños in the districts of La Tigra of San Carlos and San Isidro de Peñas Blancas of the Canton of San Ramon.
• d)100 m on both banks of the Rio San Rafael in Muelle de San Carlos, between the bridge on the road connecting the community of Muelle with Pital and the mouth of the Rio San Rafael into the Rio San Carlos.
• e)One kilometer on the right bank downstream of the Rio Virilla, in the area between the Bridge on the Autopista General Cañas and the Puente de Piedras Negras on the road connecting Puriscal with Turrucares de Alajuela.

(Puntarenas, San Jose) Major and minor hunting with bow and arrow, firearm, knives, or dogs is prohibited: With the exception of the following days: July 7, 8, 21, 22, 25; August 2, 4, 5, 15, 18, and 19; September 1, 2, 15, and 16; October 6, 7, 12, 20, and 21. In addition, hunting is prohibited in the following sites:

• a)On Isla San Lucas.
• b)In the area included in the district of Parrita, canton of Parrita, starting from the town of Valle Vasconia along the road leading to the Fila Aguacate until intersecting the bed of the Rio Negro, following from this point the bed of the same river downstream to its confluence with the Rio Chires. From this point, follow the bed of this river until intersecting the Puriscal-Parrita road at the town of Vista de Mar; and from here follow the Carretera Costanera until intersecting the Rio Pirris, upstream until reaching the town of Valle Vasconia.
• c)In the area comprised from Golfito of the province of Puntarenas, following the road leading to Rio Claro, continuing along the left margin of the Carretera Interamericana Sur to the bridge over the Rio Terraba, in Palmar Sur, from this point continuing along the right bank of the river to Boca Coronado, to finally close in Golfito, original point; exempt from this prohibition is the hunting of ducks and pigeons conducted in lagoons and areas planted with rice located outside protected areas.
• d)One kilometer on both banks of the Rio Maria Aguilar, in the area between the Puente Los Anonos on the old road connecting San Jose with Escazu and the mouth at the Rio Virilla.
• e)One kilometer on the left bank of the Rio Virilla, downstream, in the area between the Bridge on the Autopista General Cañas and the Puente de Piedras Negras on the road connecting Puriscal with Turrucares de Alajuela.
• f)The hunting of the band-tailed pigeon on the road leading between Vuelta de Jorco and Palmichal de Acosta, on both margins, and on Cerro el Guabal located at coordinates 205,500 North latitude and 51,800 West longitude, Lambert North, Sheet Caraigres.

(Cartago, Limon). Major and minor hunting with bow and arrow, firearm, knives, or dogs is prohibited:

• a)With the exception of the following days: January 1, 6, 7, 20, and 21; February 3, 4, 17, and 18; March 3, 4, 17, and 18; April 7, 8, 11, 21, and 22; and May 1, 5, 6, 19, and 20.
• b)Of the tepescuintle (Agouti paca) in the district of Orosi, canton of Paraiso, the cantons of Jimenez and Turrialba, province of Cartago.
• c)Of wild rabbits in the cantons Central, Paraiso, La Union, Jimenez, Alvarado, Oreamuno, and El Guarco of the province of Cartago, with the exception of the dates October 6, 7, 12, 20, and 21 and November 3, 4, 17, and 18.

• a)Odocoileus virginianus: White-tailed deer (Venado cola blanca); 2 males per year.
• b)Mazama americana: Brocket deer (cabro de monte), 1 male per year.
• b)Canis latrans: Coyote; 6 animals per year, subject to the authorized hunting season by zone.
• c)Tayassu tajacu: Collared peccary (sahino); 1 male per year, only in the districts of Paquera, Cobano, and Lepanto, province of Puntarenas.

• a)Didelphis marsupialis: Common opossum (zorro pelon); 5 pieces per year.
• b)Didelphis virginiana: Virginia opossum (zorro pelon); 5 pieces per year.
• c)Sylvilagus brasilensis: Forest rabbit (conejo de monte); 10 pieces per year.
• d)Sylvilagus floridanus: Eastern cottontail (conejo de monte); 10 pieces per year.
• e)Sylvilagus dicei: Dice's cottontail (conejo de altura); 10 pieces per year f) Sciurus variegatoides: Variegated squirrel (ardilla comun); 10 pieces per year.
• g)Agouti paca: Tepescuintle; 2 pieces per year.
• h)Dasyprocta punctata: Agouti (guatusa); 2 pieces per year.
• i)Urocyon cinereoargenteus: Gray fox (tigrillo, zorra gris); 2 pieces per year.
• j)Mustela frenata: Long-tailed weasel (comadreja); 3 pieces per year.
• k)Procyon lotor: Raccoon (mapache); 4 pieces per year. l) Nasua narica: White-nosed coati (pizote); 3 pieces per year.
• m)Ctenosaura similis: Black spiny-tailed iguana (garrobo); 4 pieces per year.

General Provisions on Major and Minor Hunting

The bag limit may be cumulative per days of hunting in the case of ducks, pigeons, and quails, provided that the hunter reports the number of pieces hunted per day, at the Delegation of the Rural Assistance Guard (Guardia de Asistencia Rural) or the SINAC office closest to the hunting zone visited.

24 of the regulation of the Wildlife Conservation Law), during the authorized periods in each hunting zone in accordance with Article 8, by administrative resolution, only when dealing with:

• a)Tracking of prepared tracks for the purposes of the tournament on a specific day; for which the harassment, mistreatment, or killing of wild animals is not authorized.
• b)Minor hunting tournaments of songbirds and plumage birds and their release at the same capture site.
• c)Song tournaments of songbirds in indoor or enclosed sites conditioned for such purpose.

In all cases, participants must carry and show, if required, the corresponding valid hunting license. Hunting tournaments must be supervised by SINAC officials from the corresponding Conservation Area.

On Continental Fishing

• a)For rainbow trout (Trucha Arco Iris) (Salmo gardnieri) in all national rivers, between February 1 and April 30 inclusive; outside of that period, fishing will be allowed with a limit of 5 pieces with a minimum size of 25 cm in length, per person per day. Fishing for trout raised in ponds may be conducted throughout the year.
• b)For trout in the Rio Toro and its tributaries in the district of Toro Amarillo of the canton of Valverde Vega.
• c)For guapote (Cichlasoma spp), snook (robalo) (Centropomus undecimalis), tarpon (sabalo) (Tarpon atlanticus), gaspar (Atractosteus tropicus), and other fish species, in the following rivers and their tributaries: Frio, Zapote, Niño or Pizote, lagoons of the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge (Refugio de Fauna Silvestre) and the Las Camelias Wildlife Refuge, between April 1 and July 31 inclusive. Outside of this period, fishing will be allowed with a limit of 5 fish with a minimum size of 25 cm in length, per person per day. Fishing for fish raised in ponds may be conducted throughout the year.
• d)For all species of freshwater fish in all rivers, including their tributaries, lakes, and lagoons (except as provided in subsection c) and Article 20 of this decree), between September 1 and November 30 inclusive. Outside of that period, fishing will be allowed with a limit of 5 pieces with a minimum size of 25 cm in length, per person with a license per day. The tepemechin is excepted, for which no length limit is established.
• e)For river prawn or shrimp (langostino o camaron de rio) (Macrobrachium spp.) in all national rivers between May 15 and December 31, inclusive. Outside of this period, fishing will be allowed with a limit of 5 pieces per person, per day.
• e)Sport fishing in the Laguna de Hule, located in the Bosque Alegre Private Fauna Refuge (Refugio de Fauna Privado), Cariblanco.
• f)In Indigenous Reserves (except subsistence fishing (pesca de subsistencia) conducted by indigenous people with a SINAC permit)

• a)Sport fishing, with rod and reel, as well as hand lines, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• b)Fishing every day of the year in:

1. In the Rio Reventazon from Palomo de Orosi to its mouth, with the exception of its tributaries. The bag limit is established at 5 fish per licensed angler per day.

2. Fishing conducted with a hand line or rod and reel in the Arenal Reservoir (Embalse de Arenal). The bag limit is established at 10 fish per licensed angler per day.

3. In the Bars of Colorado, Parismina, Tortuguero, and Matina. The bag limit in the cited bars will be 5 fish per angler per day. A river bar (barra) shall be understood as the riverbed comprised up to one kilometer upstream, starting from its mouth.

• c)Subsistence fishing conducted by Indigenous people in the Indigenous Reserves with a SINAC permit.
• d)Fishing in Wildlife Refuges (Refugios de Fauna Silvestre) and National Parks when the activity is contemplated in the Management Plan (Plan de Manejo).

On the Keeping of Wild Animals in Captivity

In the case of keeping plumage birds and songbirds in captivity in properly conditioned aviaries, a total limit of 15 birds per licensee with a license is established.

Prohibiciones

• a)"Calentar" (exponer al sol) aves silvestres en jaulas con trampas o jaulas cogedoras durante los dias no autorizados para la caza.
• b)La caza de aves silvestres con luz artificial durante la noche, al igual que la captura de aves con pegamentos y redes de niebla c) El traslado dentro del pais de aves en jaulas con trampas o jaulas cogedoras en temporadas no autorizadas para la caza.
• d)La caza de todas las especies de aves silvestres residentes y migratorias en todo el territorio nacional, con excepcion de las que se indiquen en el presente Decreto Ejecutivo.
• e)Transportar aves canoras o de plumaje sin los respectivos permisos del SINAC.

• a)Aves silvestres canoras y de plumaje, en los distritos de Los Angeles, Piedades Norte y San Rafael del canton de San Ramon, el distrito de Monterrey de San Carlos; en la zona comprendida entre la carretera que conduce de San Ramon a la Fortuna entre los rios la Esperanza y Burro, margen izquierda hasta colindar con El Bosque Eterno de los Niños en los distritos de La Tigra de San Carlos y San Isidro de Peñas Blancas del canton de San Ramon.
• b)Aves silvestres canoras y de plumaje en los cantones de Puriscal, Turrubares, Mora, Dota y Tarraza de la provincia de San Jose c) Aves canoras y de plumaje en el canton de Aguirre, provincia de Puntarenas.
• d)La caza del jilguero (Myadestes melanops) en:

1). el canton de Perez Zeledon y en la fila Cruces, partiendo del punto 1, ubicado en el puente sobre el rio Piedras Blancas la carretera interamericana sur hasta el punto 2 en Ciudad Neily, continuando por la carretera que conduce hasta el punto 3 en San Vito de Coto Brus, siguiendo por la carretera hacia Paso Real, pasando por la Union hasta el punto 4 ubicado en el cruce a San Gerardo, de este punto se sigue hacia el punto 5, en Paraiso, continuando con una l¡nea recta con rumbo suroeste hasta las nacientes del rio Piedras Blancas, punto 6; continuando por la margen izquierda aguas abajo hasta el puente sobre la carretera interamericana sur, punto de inicio.

2). El distrito central del canton de Turrialba y el canton de Jimenez, provincia de Cartago.

3). En la zona de amortiguamiento de un kilometro de ancho alrededor del Parque Nacional Braulio Carrillo y la Reserva Forestal Cordillera Volcanica Central.

• e)Un kilometro en ambas margenes del rio Virilla, en la zona comprendida entre el puente sobre la autopista General Cañas y el puente de Piedras Negras en la carretera que comunica Puriscal con Turrucares de Alajuela.

• h)Tangara azuleja, viuda (Thraupis episcopus) del 1° de mayo al 30 setiembre.

Caza menor de aves con arma de fuego a) Paloma collareja (Columba fasciata) durante el periodo comprendido del 1° de Febrero al 31 de agosto.

• b)Paloma arrocera (Zenaida macroura), paloma alablanca (Zenaida asi tica), del 1° de abril al 31 de octubre.
• c)Piches alablanca (Dendrocygma autumnalis) y Cerceta aliazul (Anas discor) del 1° de abril al 31 de octubre.
• d)Codorniz com£n (Colinus leucopogon) del 1° de abril al 31 de setiembre.
• e)Paloma morada (Columba flavirostris, Columba subvinacea, Columba cayanensis, Columba speciosa, Columba nigrirostris) del 1 de marzo al 30 setiembre.

Autorizaciones Caza menor de aves

• a)En tiempo autorizado y tenicamente con una jaula cogedora por persona.
• b)2 machos adultos de cada especie por temporada de caza, en todo el territorio nacional.
• c)Unicamente durante los dias sabados, domingos y feriados por ley, con horario de 6 a.m. a 5 p.m.

m. a 5:00 p.m., durante los dias s bado, domingo y feriados de ley con un limite maximo de piezas segun se indica a continuacion:

• a)Codornis comun (Colinus leucopogon), 10 piezas por d¡a por temporada, en todo el territorio nacional en el periodo comprendido entre el 1 de octubre y el 31 de marzo.
• b)Zanate (Quiscalus mexicanus), sin limite de piezas, en todo el territorio nacional, en fechas autorizados para la caza en cada zona (articulos 10, 11, 12, 13 del presente decreto).
• c)Paloma arrocera (Zenaida macroura); paloma alablanca (Zenaida asiatica), 20 piezas por dia, en todo el territorio nacional, en el periodo comprendido entre el 1 de noviembre y el 31 de marzo.
• d)Piches alablanca (Dendrocygma autumnalis) y cerceta aliazul (Anas discor), 15 piezas por d¡a, en todo el territorio nacional, en el periodo comprendido entre el 1 de noviembre y el 31 de marzo.
• e)Paloma morada (Columba flavirostris, Columba subvinacea, Columba cayanensis, Columba speciosa, Columba nigrirostris), 10 piezas por dia, en todo el territorio nacional, en el periodo comprendido entre el 1 de octubre y el 29 de febrero.
• g)Paloma collareja (Columba fasciata), 15 piezas por dia, en el periodo comprendido entre el 1 de setiembre y el 31 de enero, en los siguientes lugares:

1. En fincas privadas en las margenes de la Carretera Interamericana Sur, entre el Kilometro 34 hasta el km 39, entre el km 41 y el km 47, entre el km 52 y el km 55, entre el Km 57 y el km 64 (sitio conocido como Madreselva). Unicamente a mas de 50 mts del limite de la carretera y fuera de los limites de la Reserva Forestal Los Santos y El Parque Nacional Tapanti Macizo de la Muerte. En las zonas no autorizadas (entre el kilometro 39 al km 40, entre el km 41 al km 46, entre el km 52 al km 54, y entre el km 55 al km 56) que incluye poblados a la orilla de la carretera solo se permitir la caza en fincas particulares fuera de la Reservas Forestal Los Santos y El Parque Nacional Tapanti Macizo de la Muerte en sitios que se ubiquen a 1 km o mas de la carretera.

2. En fincas privadas, en ambas margenes de la carretera entre Carrizal de Alajuela y Poasito, a mas de 50 metros de los limites de carretera.

3. En fincas privadas en ambas margenes de las carreteras entre Tarbaca y Vuelta de Jorco, a mas de 50 mts de los limites de carretera.

Zonas de caza

Zona 1. Provincia de Guanacaste Zona 2. Provincias de Alajuela y Heredia Zona 3. Provincias de Puntarenas y San Jos‚ Zona 4. Provincias de Cartago y Limon

De la caza menor y mayor con arco y flecha, armas de fuego, cuchillo y perros

(Guanacaste). Se prohibe la caza mayor y menor con arco y flecha, arma de fuego, cuchillos o perros, como se detalla en los siguientes incisos:

• a)Con excepcion de los siguientes dias: 7, 8, 21, 22 y 25 de julio; 2, 4, 5, 15, 18 y 19 de agosto; 1, 2, 15, y 16 de setiembre; 6, 7, 12, 20 y 21 de octubre y 3, 4, 17 y 18 de noviembre.
• b)En el area delimitada por la carretera y comprendida entre las siguientes poblaciones: Playa El Coco, Sardinal, San Blas, Paso Tempisque, Filadelfia, Bel‚n, Santa Ana, Coyolillo, Portegolpe, Huacas y Brasilito; siguiendo la l¡nea de la costa en direccion norte hasta la Playa El Coco.
• c)En la zona comprendida entre el punto de las coordenadas 364,500 y 315,500 de la hoja cartografica Murcielago N° 3048-1 sobre la carretera interamericana norte, siguiendo por esta carretera hacia la ciudad de Liberia hasta el cruce de camino que conduce a la Hacienda La Esperanza, desviandose por esta camino hasta la Finca Bejuco pasando por el sitio Dama, continuando por el camino que conduce a Papagayo hasta el cruce a Cabuyal desviandose por este camino hasta Playa Cabuyal, continuando por la costa hasta el punto de coordenadas 354,500 y 302; Hoja Cartografica Ahogados N° 3048-2, en el Cerro Carbonal, limite del Parque Nacional Santa Rosa, continuando por el limite sur de dicho parque hasta el sitio inicial en coordenadas 364,500 y 315,500 sobre la Carretera Interamericana.
• d)En el rea comprendida entre los siguientes puntos: de Punta Coyote, en coordenadas 193950 N - 396400 E, siguiendo al noreste al camino que inicia en Caletas, en coordenadas 193950 N - 397150 E. Se continua al noreste por ese mismo camino hasta San Francisco de Coyote, en coordenadas 198650 N - 399900 E. Se sigue al NE por el camino hasta Javillo, en coordenadas 205925 N - 401725 E. Sigue al NW por ese camino hasta el cruce que va hacia Quebrada Grande, en coordenadas 207375 N - 396425 E, continua luego al NW por el camino hasta el cruce que va hacia Los Angeles, en coordenadas 209525 N - 395675 E, de este cruce se continua al NW por ese camino hasta el cruce con el camino a San Ramon (Rio Ora), en coordenadas 213150 N - 393650 E, continua al NW por el camino a San Ramon hasta la interseccion que va de Cangrejal a San Ramon en coordenadas 214275 N - 389850 E. Sigue al NE por el camino a San Ramon hasta la interseccion de este con el rio Chiles en coordenadas 214300 N - 389875 E, continua al SW aguas abajo del rio Chiles hasta su confluencia con el Rio Ora, en coordenadas 213950 N - 389600 E, continua al SW aguas abajo del rio Ora hasta su desembocadura en coordenadas 205300 N - 376950 E, sigue luego al SE por la orilla de la playa hasta el punto inicial en Punta Coyote coordenadas 193950 N - 396400 E.
• e)En la zona comprendida en los cerros Caballlito y Quebrada Honda, rea delimitada por el camino que conduce de Quebrada Honda, caballito y Corralillo hasta encontrar el camino entre Puerto Humo y Nicoya, siguiendo por esta ruta hasta el cruce de Santa Ana, continuando por este camino pasando por los poblados de Santa Ana y Barra Honda hasta la carretera hacia Puerto Moreno, siguiendo hasta el poblado de Quebrada Honda, punto original de partida. Dicha rea se encuentra ubicada en las hojas cartograficas Talolinga y Matambu, Provincia de Guanacaste.
• f)El cabro de monte (Mazama americana) en toda la provincia de Guanacaste.

(Alajuela, Heredia) Se prohibe la caza mayor y menor con arco y flecha, arma de fuego, cuchillos o perros, segun se detalla en los siguientes incisos:

• a)Con excepcion de los siguientes d¡as: 1, 6, 7, 20, y 21 de enero; 3, 4, 17 y 18 de febrero; 3, 4, 17 y 18 de marzo; 7, 8, 11, 21 y 22 de abril, 1, 5, 6, 19 y 20 de mayo.
• b)En el canton de Grecia y en los distritos de Piedades Norte, Los Angeles, Santiago, Piedades Sur, San Rafael y Zapotal del canton de San Ramon; el distrito de Monterrey del canton de San Carlos.
• c)En la zona comprendida entre la carretera que conduce de San Ramon a la Fortuna entre los r¡os la Esperanza y Rio Burro, margen izquierda hasta colindar con El Bosque Eterno de los Niños en los distritos de La Tigra de San Carlos y San Isidro de Peñas Blancas del Canton de San Ramon.
• d)100 mts en ambas margenes del Rio San Rafael en Muelle de San Carlos, entre el puente sobre la carretera que comunica la comunidad de Muelle con Pital y la desembocadura del Rio San Rafael en el rio San Carlos e) Un kilometro en la margen derecha aguas abajo del Rio Virilla, en la zona comprendida entre el Puente sobre la autopista General Cañas y el Puente de Piedras Negras en la carretera que comunica Puriscal con Turrucares de Alajuela.

(Puntarenas, San Jos‚) Se prohibe la caza mayor y menor con arco y flecha, arma de fuego, cuchillos o perros: Con excepcion de los siguientes dias: 7, 8, 21, 22, 25 de julio; 2, 4, 5, 15, 18 y 19 de agosto; 1, 2, 15, y 16 de setiembre; 6, 7, 12, 20 y 21 de octubre. Ademas se prohibe la caza en los siguientes sitios:

• a)En la Isla San Lucas.
• b)En la zona comprendida en el distrito tenico Parrita, del canton de Parrita, partiendo del poblado de Valle Vasconia entre el camino que conduce a la Fila Aguacate hasta intersectar el cauce del rio Negro, siguiendo a partir de este punto el cauce del mismo rio aguas abajo hasta su confluencia con el Rio Chires. A partir de este punto se sigue el cauce de este rio hasta intersectar la carretera Puriscal-Parrita a la altura del poblado de Vista de Mar; y de aqui se sigue la Carretera Costanera hasta intersectar el Rio Pirris, aguas arriba hasta llegar al poblado de Valle Vasconia.
• c)En la zona comprendida entre Golfito de la provincia de Puntarenas, siguiendo por la carretera que conduce hasta Rio Claro, continuando por la margen izquierda de la Carretera Interamericana Sur hasta el puente sobre el Rio Terraba, en Palmar Sur, de este punto continua por la margen derecha del rio hasta la Boca Coronado, para cerrar finalmente en Golfito, punto original, se exceptua de esta prohibicion la caza de patos y palomas que se realice en lagunas y reas sembradas de arroz ubicadas fuera de reas protegidas.
• d)Un kilometro en ambas margenes del Rio Maria Aguilar, en la zona comprendida entre el puente Los Anonos en la carretera vieja que comunica a San Jose‚ con Escazu y la desembocadura en el Rio Virilla.
• e)Un kilometro en la margen izquierda del rio Virilla, aguas abajo, en la zona comprendida entre el Puente sobre la autopista General Cañas y el puente de Piedras Negras en la carretera que comunica Puriscal con Turrucares de Alajuela.
• f)La caza de la paloma collareja en la carretera que conduce entre Vuelta de Jorco y Palmichal de Acosta, en ambas margenes y en el Cerro el Guabal ubicado en coordenadas 205,500 latitud Norte y 51,800 longitud oeste, Lambert Norte, Hoja Caraigres.

(Cartago, Limon). Se prohibe la caza mayor y menor con arco y flecha, arma de fuego, cuchillos o perros:

• a)Con excepcion de los siguientes dias: 1, 6, 7, 20, y 21 de enero; 3, 4, 17 y 18 de febrero; 3, 4, 17 y 18 de marzo; 7, 8, 11, 21 y 22 de abril y 1, 5, 6, 19 y 20 de mayo.
• b)Del tepescuintle (Agouti paca) en el distrito de Orosi, canton de Paraiso, los cantones de Jimenez y Turrialba, provincia de Cartago.
• c)De conejos silvestres en los cantones Central, Paraiso, La Union, Jimenez, Alvarado, Oreamuno y El Guarco de la provincia de Cartago, con excepcion de las fechas 6, 7, 12, 20 y 21 de octubre y 3, 4, 17 y 18 de noviembre.

• a)Odocoileus virginianus: Venado cola blanca; 2 machos por año.
• b)Mazama americana: cabro de monte, 1 macho por año.
• b)Canis latrans: coyote; 6 animales por año, sujeto a temporada de caza autorizada por zona.
• c)Tayassu tajacu: sahino; 1 macho por año, solo en los distritos de Paquera, Cobano y Lepanto, provincia de Puntarenas.

• a)Didelphis marsupialis: zorro pelon; 5 piezas por año.
• b)Didelphis virginiana: zorro pelon; 5 piezas por año.
• c)Sylvilagus brasilensis: conejo de monte; 10 piezas por año.
• d)Sylvilagus floridanus: conejo de monte; 10 piezas por año.
• e)Sylvilagus dicei: conejo de altura; 10 piezas por año f) Sciurus variegatoides: ardilla comun; 10 piezas por año.
• g)Agouti paca: tepescuintle; 2 piezas por año.
• h)Dasyprocta punctata: guatusa; 2 piezas por año.
• i)Urocyon cineroargenteus: tigrillo, zorra gris; 2 piezas por año.
• j)Mustela frenata: comadreja; 3 piezas por año.
• k)Procyon lotor: mapache; 4 piezas por año. l) Nassua narica: pizote; 3 piezas por año.
• m)Ctenosaura similis: garrobo; 4 piezas por año.

Generalidades sobre la caza mayor y menor

El limite de piezas podra ser acumulativo por dias de caza en el caso de los patos, palomas y codornices, siempre y cuando el cazador reporte el numero de piezas cazado por dia, en la Delegacion de la Guardia de Asistencia Rural o a la oficina del SINAC, mas cercana a la zona de caza visitada.

24 del reglamento de la Ley de Conservacion de la Vida Silvestre), durante los periodos autorizados en cada zona de caza de acuerdo con el articulo 8, mediante resolucion administrativa, solo cuando se trate de:

• a)Rastreo de huellas preparadas para los efectos del torneo en un dia determinado; para lo cual no se autoriza el acoso, maltrato o muerte de animales silvestres.
• b)Torneos de caza menor de aves canoras y de plumaje y su liberacion en el mismo sitio de captura.
• c)Torneos de canto de aves canoras en sitios bajo techo o cerrados y acondicionados para tal efecto.

En todos los casos, los participantes deber n portar y mostrar si fuera requerido la correspondiente licencia de caza vigente. Los torneos de caza deberan ser fiscalizados por funcionarios del SINAC del Area de Conservacion correspondiente.

De la pesca continental

• a)De trucha Arco Iris (Salmo gardnieri) en todos los rios nacionales, entre el 1 de febrero y el 30 de abril inclusive; fuera de ese plazo se podra pescar con un limite de 5 piezas con un tamaño minimo de 25 cm. de longitud, por persona por dia. La pesca de truchas cultivadas en estanques se pueda realizar durante todo el año.
• b)De la trucha en el rio Toro y sus afluentes en el distrito Toro Amarillo del canton de Valverde Vega.
• c)De guapote (Cichlasoma spp) robalo (Centropomus undecimalis), sabalo (Tarpon atlanticus), gaspar (Atractosteus tropicus) y demas especies de peces, en los siguientes rios y sus afluentes: Frio, Zapote, Niño o Pizote, lagunas del Refugio de Fauna Silvestre de Caño Negro y el Refugio de Fauna Silvestre las Camelias, entre el 1 de abril y el 31 de julio inclusive . Fuera de este plazo, se podra pescar con un limite de 5 peces con un tamaño minimo de 25 cm. de longitud, por persona por dia. La pesca de peces cultivados en estanques se puede realizar durante todo el año.
• d)De todas las especies de peces de agua dulce en todos los rios incluyendo sus afluentes, lagos y lagunas (exceptuando lo establecido en el inciso c) y el articulo 20 de este decreto), entre el 1 de setiembre y el 30 de noviembre inclusive. Fuera de ese plazo se podr pescar con un l¡mite de 5 piezas con un tamaño minimo de 25 cm. de longitud, por persona con licencia por dia. Se exceptua el tepemechin, para el cual no se establece limite de longitud.
• e)Del langostino o camaron de rio (Macrobrachium spp.) en todos los rios nacionales entre el 15 de mayo y el 31 de diciembre, inclusive. Fuera de este plazo, se podra pescar con un limite de 5 piezas por persona, por dia.
• e)La pesca deportiva en la Laguna de Hule, ubicada en el Refugio de Fauna Privado Bosque Alegre, Cariblanco.
• f)En las Reservas Indigenas (excepto la pesca de subsistencia que realicen los ind¡genas con permiso del SINAC)

• a)La pesca deportiva, con caña y carrete, asi como cuerdas de mano, en un horario de 6:00 a. m. a 5:00 p. m.
• b)La pesca todos los dias del año en:

1. En el rio Reventazon desde Palomo de Orosi hasta su desembocadura, con excepcion de sus afluentes. El limite de piezas se establece en 5 peces por pescador con licencia por dia.

2. La que se realice con cuerda de mano o caña y carrete en el Embalse de Arenal. Se establece el limite de piezas en 10 peces por pescador con licencia por dia.

3. En las Barras de Colorado, Parismina, Tortuguero y Matina. El limite de piezas en las barras citadas ser de 5 peces por pescador por dia. Se entendera por barra de un rio como el cauce comprendido hasta un kilometro aguas arriba, partiendo de su boca.

• c)La pesca de subsistencia que realicen los Indigenas en las Reservas Indigenas con permiso del SINAC.
• d)La pesca en Refugios de Fauna Silvestre y Parques Nacionales cuando la actividad esta‚ contemplada en el Plan de Manejo.

De la tenencia de animales silvestres en cautiverio

En el caso de tenencia de aves de plumaje y canoras en cautiverio en aviarios adecuadamente acondicionados, se establece un limite de 15 aves en total, por permisionario con licencia.
