- Complete Text of Regulation 6512 Creates the Canton of Garabito Complete Text act: 32BBC 1 No. 6512 THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF COSTA RICA,
DECREES:
From there, ascend along the watershed divide to the Fila Negra, and along it, passing through the triangulation vertex 'Herra' (821 m altitude), until finding the southernmost spring (naciente) of the Río Camaronal, which is followed downstream to its confluence with the Río Tarcolitos. Continue upstream along this latter river to its northernmost spring (naciente), East of Cerro Quebrada Bonita, to reach, to the East, the nearest hill (590 m altitude) from which, to the Northwest, the southernmost spring (naciente) of the quebrada Cinco Pasos is reached. Then, downstream along said quebrada and then along the Río Carara to its confluence with the Río Grande de Tárcoles, which is continued upstream to the confluence of the Río Turrubares; here leave the Río Grande de Tárcoles and ascend, along the right bank, to the summit of cerro Atrocho to continue along the small mountain range that, with a general West heading, divides the waters of the quebradas Coyote and Parales, until reaching the boundary marker R-7 ('GN), crossing the highway that comes from Orotina and goes to the mouth of the Río Grande at an approximate distance of nine kilometers to the Northwest, where a ferry for passengers, vehicles, and cargo used to operate. Descend to the nearest headwaters of the Quebrada Comarcuabe, continue along it, downstream first, then along the Piedras de Fuego and then along the ríos Cuarros and Jesús María to its mouth in the Pacific Ocean. From here, along the coast of the aforementioned Ocean to the mouth of the Río Tusubres, the origin of this description."
Furthermore, this Institute is authorized to adjust the boundaries in cases that present doubt.
Transitory Provision I.- The first municipal election of the new canton shall be held on the first Sunday of February 1982, coinciding with the national elections.
Transitory Provision II.- Until the respective municipality is installed, the circumscribed territory, within the boundaries indicated in article two of this law, shall be governed by the current Concejo Municipal de Distrito, in accordance with the provisions set forth in Law No. 4892, of November 9, 1971.
Presidency of the Republic.- San José, on the twenty-fifth day of the month of September, nineteen hundred and eighty.

DECRETA:
De allí, se asciende por la divisoria de las aguas hasta la Fila Negra, y por ésta, pasando por el vértice "Herra" de triangulación (821 m de altitud), hasta encontrar la naciente más meridional del Río Camaronal, por el que se sigue aguas abajo hasta su confluencia con el Río Tarcolitos. Se continúa aguas arriba por este último río, hasta su naciente más septentrional, al Este del Cerro Quebrada Bonita, para alcanzar, al Este, el cerro más próximo (590 m de altitud) de donde, al Noroeste se alcanza la naciente más meridional de la quebrada Cinco Pasos. Luego, aguas abajo por dicha quebrada y después por el Río Carara hasta su confluencia con el Río Grande de Tárcoles, el cual se continúa aguas arriba hasta la confluencia del Río Turrubares; aquí se deja el Río Grande de Tárcoles y se asciende, por la orilla derecha, a la cima del cerro Atrocho para continuar por la pequeña serranía que, con rumbo general Oeste, divide las aguas de las quebradas Coyote y Parales, hasta llegar al hito R-7 ('GN), se atraviesa la carretera que viene de Orotina y va a la boca del Río Grande a una distancia aproximada de nueve kilómetros al Noroeste, donde operaba un trasbordador para pasajeros, vehículos y carga. Se desciende a la cabecera más próxima de la Quebrada Comarcuabe, se continúa por ésta, aguas abajo primero, luego por las Piedras de Fuego y después por los ríos Cuarros y Jesús María hasta su desembocadura en el Océano Pacífico. De aquí, por la costa del mencionado Océano hasta la desembocadura del Río Tusubres, origen de la presente descripción".
Además, se faculta a este Instituto para la adecuación de los límites, en los casos que ofrezcan duda.
