Starting from a point located 100 meters northeast of the mouth of the Cocles River on the high-tide line. It continues from that point and always parallel, 100 meters to the Cocles River heading southwest until reaching the current road between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo. It follows that road heading east up to 100 meters before the bridge over the Ernesto stream (quebrada) where it takes a line parallel, 100 meters to said stream upstream, up to its headwaters (naciente). At its headwaters, it takes the 40-meter elevation contour curve and proceeds along said curve until reaching the intersection between coordinates 609,000 E and 395,000 N. From that point, it follows a line of 300 meters, due south, to subsequently find another line located 100 meters before the headwaters of the Milla stream. From that point, it follows downstream a line parallel, 100 meters to said stream until reaching a point located on the coast 200 meters before the high-tide line. It then continues heading southeast, parallel, 200 meters to the coast to a point located 300 meters before the first mouth of the Gandoca Lagoon (laguna Gandoca) (currently closed) and takes that line parallel, 300 meters to the Gandoca River upstream, to a point located between coordinate 617,000 E and coordinate 391,400 N. From that point, it takes a heading due south to the Sixaola River, where it then proceeds downstream along the left bank to its mouth. From that point at the mouth, a line is taken perpendicular to the beach of 2,500 meters and continues bordering the coast heading northeast and parallel to it at a distance of 2,500 meters to an imaginary line perpendicular, 2,500 meters to the initial point of this description, located 100 meters northeast of the mouth of the Cocles River. In order to provide greater protection offshore against human actions tending to harm marine turtle species.

32753 of May 16, 2005, "Ratifies the validity of Articles 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8 of the executive decree that created the Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge ". Although this article had been amended by number 3 of Executive Decree No. 34043 of September 11, 2007, said amendment was annulled by Resolution of the Constitutional Chamber No. 1056 of January 28, 2009, which in turn annulled by association Article 1 of the executive decree in question, "only insofar as." it did not also exclude ".Article 6 of the "original decree creating the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, No. 16614-MAG of July 1, 1985").

Both offices of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock shall coordinate with the community development associations of the neighboring localities the activities related to the resources mentioned in this article.

Partiendo de un punto situado 100 metros al noreste de la desembocadura del río Cocles sobre la línea de marea. Continúa de ese punto y siempre paralelo 100 metros al río Cocles con rumbo suroeste hasta alcanzar la carretera actual entre Puerto Viejo y Manzanillo. Sigue por esa carretera con rumbo este hasta 100 metros antes del puente sobre la quebrada Ernesto en donde toma una línea paralela de 100 metros a dicha quebrada aguas arriba, hasta su nacimiento. En su nacimiento toma la curva del nivel de los 40 metros y se va por dicha curva hasta alcanzar la intersección entre las coordenadas 609.000 E y 395.000 N. De ese punto sigue una línea de 300 metros, con este franco para buscar posteriormente otra línea que se ubique 100 metros antes del nacimiento de la quebrada Milla. De ese punto sigue aguas abajo una línea paralela de 100 metros a dicha quebrada hasta llegar a un punto situado en la costa a 200 metros antes de la línea de marea. Luego continúa con rumbo sureste paralelo 200 metros a la costa hasta un punto situado a 300 metros antes de la primera boca de la laguna Gandoca (hoy cerrada) y toma esa línea paralela 300 metros al río Gandoca aguas arriba, hasta un punto situado entre la coordenada 617.000 E y la coordenada 391.400 N. De ese punto toma rumbo sur franco hasta el río Sixaola, en donde luego toma aguas abajo por la margen izquierda hasta su desembocadura. De ese punto de la desembocadura, se toma una línea perpendicular a la playa de 2.500 metros y continúa bordeando la costa con rumbo noreste y en forma paralela a ésta a una distancia de 2.500 metros hasta una línea imaginaria perpendicular 2.500 metros al punto inicial de la presente descripción situado 100 metros al noreste de la desembocadura del río Cocles. Con el fin de brindar una mayor protección mar adentro, contra las acciones humanas que tiendan a perjudicar a las especies de tortugas marinas.

Si bien este artículo había sido reformado por el numeral 3° del decreto ejecutivo N° 34043 del 11 de setiembre del 2007, dicha reforma fue anulada mediante resolución de la Sala Constitucional N° 1056 del 28 de enero del 2009, que a su vez anuló por conexidad el artículo 1° del decreto ejecutivo de marras, "únicamente en tanto." no excluyó ".además el artículo 6 del "decreto original de creación de Refugio de Vida Silvestre Gandoca-Manzanillo, Nº 16614-MAG del 1º de julio de 1985").

Ambas dependencias del Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería coordinarán con las asociaciones de desarrollo comunal de las localidades aledañas las actividades que tengan relación con los recursos mencionados en este artículo.
