33973-MINAE of July 31, 2007, called "Declare Electrical Interconnection System for the Countries of Central America (SIEPAC) Project of public interest and national convenience", is modified to read as follows:
"Article 1. The construction, operation, and maintenance, as well as the execution of the required prevention, mitigation, or compensation works, are declared of National Convenience for the Electrical Interconnection System for the Countries of Central America (SIEPAC) Project, developed by the Empresa Propietaria de la Red S. A., and the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad.
By virtue of the declaration of National Convenience for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the cited Project, the felling, pruning, or elimination of trees located on lands covered by forest or in the protection areas defined in article 33 of the Ley Forestal No. 7575 is authorized, which must be carried out in a limited, proportional, and reasonable manner, prior processing of the respective permits before the pertinent Conservation Area (Área de Conservación) of the Sistema Nacional de Áreas de Conservación, provided that the trees are not located on lands that are Estado Natural Heritage."
