1º- Official communication DGT-054-06-2014 is known, submitted by Lic. Antonio Porras Porras, General Technical Director, by means of which he submits for its knowledge and analysis, a recommendation from the Closed Seasons Commission (Comisión de Vedas), for the implementation of the closed season in the Golfo de Nicoya, corresponding to the year 2014, in accordance with what was agreed in Record 01-2014 of the National Closed Seasons Commission (Comisión Nacional de Vedas).

2º- Lic. Porras Porras states that after discussing the different closed season proposals for the year 2014 and considering the inputs provided by small-scale fishing organizations and the semi-industrial sector (shrimp and sardine), it is recommended that the closed season for the Golfo de Nicoya be established, if deemed pertinent, under the following terms and conditions:

• A)Establish a total closed season in the area comprised by an imaginary straight line extending from Punta Torres known as Peñón (84°43´52" West Longitude, 09°53¨31" North Latitude) to the outer Lighthouse of Isla Negritos (84°49´35" West Longitude, 09°49´14" North Latitude) and from there to the eastern part of Punta Cuchillo on the Península de Nicoya, from these lines inshore to the mouth of the Tempisque River, and this fishing prohibition extends from August 15 to October 31, both dates inclusive.
• B)A closed season is established for semi-industrial shrimp trawl and sardine purse-seine (bolichera) fishing, in the area comprised by an imaginary line extending from Punta Torres known as Peñón (84°43´52" West Longitude, 09°53¨31" North Latitude) to the outer Lighthouse of Isla Negritos (84°49´35" West Longitude, 09°49´14" North Latitude) and from there to the eastern part of Punta Cuchillo on the Península de Nicoya, from these lines inshore to the mouth of the Tempisque River; from August 15, 2014 to November 30, 2014.

1. 3That for the purposes of having and obtaining greater clarity on the scope of the closed season proposal, the presence of Messrs. Antonio Porras Porras and Jorge Arturo López Romero, Head of the Extension and Training Department (Departamento de Extensión y Capacitación), was arranged; both members of the Closed Seasons Commission, who explained before this Collegiate Body the scope of the same, which once addressed and being of the favorable technical opinion and recommendation for the implementation of this closed season, the Board of Directors. Therefore,

AGREES:

1º- To establish a total closed season in the area comprised by an imaginary straight line extending from Punta Torres known as Peñón (84°43´52" West Longitude, 09°53¨31" North Latitude) to the outer Lighthouse of Isla Negritos (84°49´35" West Longitude, 09°49´14" North Latitude) and from there to the eastern part of Punta Cuchillo on the Península de Nicoya, from these lines inshore to the mouth of the Tempisque River, and this fishing prohibition extends from August 15 to October 31, both dates inclusive.

2º- Likewise, a closed season is established for semi-industrial shrimp trawl and sardine purse-seine (bolichera) fishing, in the area comprised by an imaginary line extending from Punta Torres known as Peñón (84°43´52" West Longitude, 09°53¨31" North Latitude) to the outer Lighthouse of Isla Negritos (84°49´35" West Longitude, 09°49´14" North Latitude) and from there to the eastern part of Punta Cuchillo on the Península de Nicoya, from these lines inshore to the mouth of the Tempisque River; from August 15, 2014 to November 30, 2014.

3º- Firm agreement.

4º- Let it be published.

Considering:

1º-Se conoce oficio DGT-054-06-2014, remitido por el Lic. Antonio Porras Porras, Director General Técnico, por medio del cual remite para su conocimiento y análisis, recomendación de la Comisión de Vedas, para la implementación de la veda en el Golfo de Nicoya, correspondiente al año 2014, conforme a lo acordado en el Acta 01-2014 de la Comisión Nacional de Vedas.

2º-Manifiesta el Lic. Porras Porras que luego de discutidas las diferentes propuestas de veda para el año 2014 y considerando los insumos aportados por organizaciones de pesca en pequeña escala y del sector semi-industrial (camaronero y sardinero), se recomienda que la veda para el Golfo de Nicoya se establezca, de considerarlo pertinente bajo los siguientes términos y condiciones:

• A)Establecer una veda total en el área comprendida por una línea recta imaginaria que va desde Punta Torres conocida como Peñón (84°43´52" Longitud Oeste, 09°53¨31"Latinud Norte) al Faro de la Isla Negritos afuera (84°49´35" Longitud Oeste, 09°49´14" Latitud Norte) y desde ahí hasta la parte este de Punta Cuchillo en la Península de Nicoya, de estas líneas aguas adentro hasta la desembocadura del río Tempisque y esta prohibición de pesca va desde el 15 de agosto hasta el 31 de octubre, ambas fechas incluidas.
• B)Se establece para la pesca Semi-industrial camaronera de arrastre y sardinera bolichera (cerco), una veda en el área comprendida por una línea imaginaria que va desde Punta Torres conocida como Peñón (84°43´52" Longitud Oeste, 09°53¨31"Latinud Norte) al Faro de la Isla Negritos afuera (84°49´35" Longitud Oeste, 09°49´14" Latitud Norte) y desde ahí hasta la parte este de Punta Cuchillo en la Península de Nicoya, de estas líneas aguas adentro hasta la desembocadura del Río Tempisque; desde el 15 de agosto del 2014 hasta el 30 de noviembre del 2014.

1. 3Que a los efectos de tener y contar con una mayor claridad sobre los alcances de la propuesta de veda, se contó con la presencia de los Sres. Antonio Porras Porras, y Jorge Arturo López Romero, Jefe del Departamento de Extensión y Capacitación; ambos miembros de la Comisión de Vedas, quienes expusieron ante éste Órgano Colegiado, los alcances de la misma, lo cual una vez atendidos y siendo del criterio y recomendación técnico favorable para la realización de esta veda, la Junta Directiva. Por tanto,

ACUERDA:

1º-Establecer una veda total en el área comprendida por una línea recta imaginaria que va desde Punta Torres conocida como Peñón (84°43´52" Longitud Oeste, 09°53¨31"Latinud Norte) al Faro de la Isla Negritos afuera (84°49´35" Longitud Oeste, 09°49´14" Latitud Norte) y desde ahí hasta la parte este de Punta Cuchillo en la Península de Nicoya, de estas líneas aguas adentro hasta la desembocadura del Río Tempisque y esta prohibición de pesca va desde el 15 de agosto hasta el 31 de octubre, ambas fechas incluidas.

2º-Asimismo se establece para la pesca Semi-industrial camaronera de arrastre y sardinera bolichera (cerco), una veda en el área comprendida por una línea imaginaria que va desde Punta Torres conocida como Peñón (84°43´52" Longitud Oeste, 09°53¨31"Latinud Norte) al Faro de la Isla Negritos afuera (84°49´35" Longitud Oeste, 09°49´14" Latitud Norte) y desde ahí hasta la parte este de Punta Cuchillo en la Península de Nicoya, de estas líneas aguas adentro hasta la desembocadura del Río Tempisque; desde el 15 de agosto del 2014 hasta el 30 de noviembre del 2014.
