Declaration of Inalienability of Mountains Supplying Water to Heredia and AlajuelaDeclaración de inalienables de las montañas fuente de agua para Heredia y Alajuela

(Note from Sinalevi: By means of Article 1 of Executive Decree No. 39259 of October 15, 2015, the following is established: "... Declare as a national park part of the territory established as an Inalienable Zone, created by Decree Law No. LXV of July 1888, annexing said portion of land to Braulio Carrillo National Park; the boundaries of which are described below based on the topographic sheet Barva 3346 II, edition 3-IGNCR, 2005, scale 1:50,000, prepared by the National Geographic Institute of Costa Rica.

Starting from the current boundary of Braulio Carrillo National Park at the point with coordinates 1117735.94-489525.06 (on a tributary of the Porrosatí River). From there, follow downstream along said tributary to the point with coordinates 1116900.75-489349.61 on the current boundary of the Cordillera Volcánica Central Forest Reserve (RFCVC). From there, continue southeast along the boundary of the forest reserve until reaching the intersection point between the boundary of the Cordillera Volcánica Central Forest Reserve and Braulio Carrillo National Park at the point with coordinates 1111363.59-494674.39, continue to the point with coordinate 1.111363.59-495671.22. From this point, head northwest along the current shared boundary between said protected wilderness areas passing through the points with coordinates 1113365.71-493674.76, 1115033.45-493670.16 on the Quebrada Sanguijuela, follow downstream along said stream to the intersection with the Patria River at the point with coordinates 1115262.95-495986.21; follow downstream along the Patria River to its intersection with the Nuevo River at the point with coordinates 1114894.29-498749.52. Continue upstream along the Nuevo River along the current shared boundary between said protected wilderness areas to the point with coordinates 1117574.62-494679.03. Continue on a due north course to the point with coordinates 1118364.01-494679.58. From there, proceed on a due west course to the point with coordinates 1118367.45-489979.30. Continue southwest along the current boundary of Braulio Carrillo National Park until reaching the point with coordinates 1117735.94-489525.06 (on a tributary of the Porrosatí River), which corresponds to the starting point of this description.

In turn, the State Natural Heritage territories described below: From the point with coordinates 1120013 - 486426, which corresponds to the intersection of the current boundary with an old road appearing on the cartographic sheet Barva 3346 II, scale 1:50,000 prepared by the National Geographic Institute, continue northwest and north through the following coordinate points: 1120117 - 486238, 1120165 - 486250, 1120441 - 486161, 1120584 - 486131, 1120936 - 486155, then continue east over points 1120938 - 486189, 1120905 - 486237, 1120882 - 486347, from there continue north and northeast through points 1121073 - 486344, 1121234 - 486487, 1121318 - 486480, 1121653 - 486662, 1121734 - 486754, and then to point 1121685 - 486848, which corresponds to the current boundary of Braulio Carrillo National Park. From there, continue southwest and south along the current boundary of the Park to the coordinate point 1120013 - 486426, the starting point of the current section...")

Given in the session hall of the National Palace, in San José, on the twenty-eighth day of the month of July of one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

(Nota de Sinalevi: Mediante el artículo 1° del decreto ejecutivo N° 39259 del 15 de octubre del 2015 se establece lo siguiente: "... Declárese parque nacional parte del territorio establecido como Zona inalienable, creada por el Decreto Ley Nº LXV de julio de 1888, anexando dicha porción de terreno al Parque Nacional Braulio Carrillo; cuyos límites se describen a continuación basado en la hoja topográfica Barva 3346 II, edición 3-IGNCR, 2005, escala 1:50.000, elaborada por el Instituto Geográfico Nacional de Costa Rica.

Partiendo del actual límite del Parque Nacional Braulio Carrillo en el punto de coordenadas 1117735.94-489525.06 (sobre un afluente del río Porrosatí). De ahí se sigue aguas abajo de dicho afluente hasta el punto de coordenadas 1116900.75-489349.61sobre el actual límite de la Reserva Forestal Cordillera Volcánica Central (RFCVC). De ahí continúa hacia el sureste por el límite de la reserva forestal hasta encontrarse el punto de intersección entre el límite de Reserva Forestal Cordillera Volcánica Central y el Parque Nacional Braulio Carrillo en el punto de coordenadas 1111363.59-494674.39, continua hasta el punto de coordenada 1.111363.59-495671.22. A partir de este punto se dirige hacia el noroeste por el actual límite compartido entre dichas áreas silvestres protegidas pasando por los puntos de coordenadas 1113365.71-493674.76, 1115033.45-493670.16 sobre la Quebrada Sanguijuela, sigue aguas abajo de dicha quebrada hasta la intersección con el Río Patria en el punto de coordenadas1115262.95-495986.21; sigue aguas abajo del Río Patria hasta la intersección del mismo con el Río Nuevo en el punto de coordenadas 1114894.29-498749.52. Continúa aguas arriba del río Nuevo por el actual límite compartido entre dichas áreas silvestres protegidas hasta el punto de coordenadas 1117574.62-494679.03. Continúa con rumbo franco norte hasta el punto de coordenadas 1118364.01-494679.58. A partir de ahí se va con rumbo franco oeste hasta el punto de coordenadas 1118367.45-489979.30. Continúa hacia el suroeste por el actual límite del Parque Nacional Braulio Carrillo hasta llegar al punto de coordenadas 1117735.94-489525.06 (sobre un afluente del río Porrosatí) que corresponde al punto de inicio de esta descripción.

A su vez los territorios Patrimonio Natural del Estado que a continuación se describen: Del punto de coordenadas 1120013 - 486426 que corresponde a la intersección del límite actual con un viejo camino que aparece en la hoja cartográfica Barva 3346 II, escala 1:50.000 elaborada por el Instituto Geográfico Nacional se continúa hacia el noroeste y norte por los siguientes puntos de coordenadas: 1120117 - 486238, 1120165 - 486250, 1120441 - 486161, 1120584 - 486131, 1120936 - 486155, luego se continua hacia el este sobre los puntos 1120938 - 486189, 1120905 - 486237, 1120882 - 486347, de allí sigue hacia el norte y noreste por los puntos 1121073 - 486344, 1121234 - 486487, 1121318 - 486480, 1121653 - 486662, 1121734 - 486754, y luego hacia el punto 1121685 - 486848 que corresponde al límite actual del Parque Nacional Braulio Carrillo. De allí se sigue hacia el suroeste y sur sobre el límite actual del Parque hasta el punto de coordenadas 1120013 - 486426, punto inicial de la sección actual...")
