6084, of August 24, 1977), Biological Reserves, Natural Monuments, Forest Reserves, Protected Zones, Indigenous Reserves (except subsistence hunting for resident indigenous people), Wildlife Refuges, (except in cases of population management programs carried out by the National System of Conservation Areas of MINAE), and farms subject to the Payment for Environmental Services (Pago de Servicios Ambientales) regime. In addition to those farms that are under the administration of the Conservation Areas.

Prohibitions

• a)"Warming up" wild birds in cages with traps or catching cages during days not authorized for hunting.
• b)Hunting wild birds with artificial light at night, as well as capturing birds with glues and mist nets.
• c)The transfer within the country of birds in cages with traps or catching cages during seasons not authorized for hunting.
• d)Hunting of all species of resident and migratory wild birds throughout the national territory, with the exception of those indicated in this Executive Decree.
• e)Transporting songbirds (birds with striking songs) or plumage birds (birds with strikingly colored plumage) in decoy cages or with traps, during seasons not authorized for hunting, without the respective permits from SINAC (valid hunting license and possession permit, and transfer permit).
• f)Hunting of songbirds and plumage birds in the following places:
• 1)In the districts (distritos) of Los Ángeles, Piedades Norte, and San Rafael of the canton of San Ramón; the area between Alto Villegas of the district of Volio of the canton of San Ramón, starting at the Highway that connects Zarcero with San Ramón at the crossing to Ángeles Norte, continuing along this road to the bridge over Quebrada Plata, continuing along the watercourse downstream to the mouth of the Río Espino, continuing along the right bank upstream to the bridge on the road that connects San Luis with Barranca, from this point continuing along the road to Barranca, continuing along the highway that leads to San Ramón to the starting point located in Alto Villegas and the crossing to Ángeles Norte; in the area between the highway that leads from San Ramón to La Fortuna between the rivers La Esperanza and Burro, left bank until including El Bosque Eterno de los Niños in the districts of La Tigra de San Carlos and San Isidro de Peñas Blancas of the canton of San Ramón.
• 2)In the district of Monterrey de San Carlos and in the area between the road that goes from the Community of El Tanque to Monterrey de San Carlos, starting at the crossing to Montelimar, continuing along this road to the right, passing through the village of San Andrés, to the village of Nieves, continuing until meeting the road that leads to Los Chiles, passing through Santa Rosa and Acapulco until reaching the crossing of the Río Chimurria, at this point continue to the left on the road that leads toward San Jorge until intercepting the road that joins San Jorge with Chambacú, from this point continue south along the road toward Chambacú, and Cedros, continuing to Mirador and the crossing that leads to Montelimar at the starting point.
• 3)In the cantons of Puriscal, Turrubares, Mora, Dota, and Tarrazú, and Perez Zeledón of the province of San José.
• 4)In the cantons of Aguirre, Buenos Aires, and Coto Brus of the province of Puntarenas.
• 5)In the canton of El Guarco of the province of Cartago.
• 6)One kilometer on both banks of the Río Virilla, in the area between the bridge over the Autopista General Cañas and the Piedras Negras bridge on the highway that connects Puriscal with Turrúcares de Alajuela.
• 7)Starting from the bridge over the Río Aranjuez on the Carretera Interamericana Norte, right bank following said highway to the bridge over the Río Lagarto, from this point upstream along the right bank to the confluence of the Quebrada Rodríguez, near Santa Elena, from this point following the right bank upstream to its spring (naciente) in the Cerro Chomogo, continuing south along the watershed divide and the political boundaries of the province of Alajuela and Puntarenas until intersecting the Cerro Ojo de Agua, continuing south to the spring of the Río Aranjuecito, continuing downstream to the starting point at the bridge over the Carretera Interamericana Norte.
• 8)Hunting of the black-faced solitaire (jilguero) (Myadestes melanops) is prohibited throughout the national territory.

Songbirds (Aves canoras):

• a)Yellow-crowned euphonia, monjito (Euphonia luteicapilla) from January 1 to September 30.
• b)Yellow-throated euphonia (Euphonia hirundinacea) from January 1 to September 30.
• c)White-vented euphonia, canaria (Euphonia minuta) from January 1 to September 30.
• d)Scrub euphonia, finito (Euphonia affinis) from January 1 to September 30.
• e)Yellow-faced grassquit, semillerito cariamarillo (Tiaris olivacea) from April 1 to September 30.
• f)White-collared seedeater (Sporophila torqueola) from April 1 to September 30.
• g)Variable seedeater (Sporophila aurita) from April 1 to September 30.

Plumage birds (Aves de plumaje):

• a)Speckled tanager, zebra (Tangara guttata) from March 1 to September 30.
• b)Silver-throated tanager, Juanita (Tangara icterocephata) from March 1 to September 30.
• c)Golden-hooded tanager, siete colores, mariposa (Tangara larvata) from March 1 to September 30.
• d)House sparrow, eléctrico (Passer domesticus) from May 1 to August 30.

Minor game hunting of birds with a firearm:

• a)Band-tailed pigeon (Columba fasciata) during the period from February 1 to August 31.
• b)Mourning dove (Zenaida macroura), white-winged dove (Zenaida asiática), from April 1 to October 31.
• c)Black-bellied whistling-duck (Dendrocygma autumnalis) and blue-winged teal (Anas discor) from April 1 to October 31.
• d)Spot-bellied bobwhite (Colinus leucopogon) from April 1 to September 31.
• e)Red-billed pigeon, ruddy pigeon, pale-vented pigeon, short-billed pigeon (Columba flavirostris, Columba subvinacea, Columba cayanensis, Columba nigrirostris) from March 1 to September 30.

Authorizations Minor game hunting of birds

• a)During authorized times and only with one catching cage per hunter.
• b)A maximum of 2 adult males of each authorized species per hunter per year, throughout the national territory, except as established in subsection f) of article 3 of this decree.
• c)Only on Saturdays, Sundays, and authorized holidays in this decree, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• d)In the case of bird hunting tournaments and the subsequent release of captured birds, these tournaments are for a specific day in an authorized place according to the submitted application, with a maximum of two dates per season for a site. The sites must be more than 5 km apart from one another.

• a)Spot-bellied bobwhite (Colinus leucopogon), 10 pieces per day per hunter, in the whole national territory during the period from October 1 to March 31.
• b)Great-tailed grackle (Quiscalus mexicanus), no limit of pieces, in the whole national territory, on dates authorized for hunting in each zone (articles 10, 11, 12, 13 of this Decree). In the province of Guanacaste, hunting is permitted year-round.
• c)Mourning dove (Zenaida macroura); white-winged dove (Zenaida asiática), 20 pieces per day, per hunter, in the whole national territory, during the period from November 1 to March 31.
• d)Black-bellied whistling-duck (Dendrocygma autumnalis) and blue-winged teal (Anas discor), 15 pieces per day, per hunter, in the whole national territory, during the period from November 1 and March 31.
• e)Red-billed pigeon, ruddy pigeon, pale-vented pigeon, short-billed pigeon (Columba flavirostris, Columba subvinacea, Columba cayanensis, Columba nigrirostris), 10 pieces per day, per hunter, in the whole national territory, except the zones delimited in subsections 10; 11, 12, and 13 of this decree, when the distribution of these species corresponds, during the period from October 1 to February 29.
• f)Band-tailed pigeon (Columba fasciata), 10 pieces per day, per hunter, during the period from September 1 to January 31, in the following places:
• 1)On private farms on the banks of the Carretera Interamericana Sur, between Kilometer 34 and Km 39, between Km 41 and Km 47, between Km 52 and Km 55, between Km 57 and Km 64 (a place known as Madreselva). Only more than 50 m from the edge of the highway and outside the boundaries of the Los Santos Forest Reserve and Tapantí Macizo de la Muerte National Park. In the unauthorized zones (between kilometer 39 and Km 40, between Km 41 and Km 46, between Km 52 and Km 54, and between Km 55 and Km 56) which include villages at the edge of the highway, hunting is only permitted on private farms outside the Los Santos Forest Reserve and Tapantí Macizo de la Muerte National Park in places located 1 Km or more from the highway.
• 2)On private farms, on both banks of the highway between Carrizal de Alajuela and Poasito, more than 50 meters from the highway boundaries.
• 3)On private farms on both banks of the highways between Tarbaca and Vuelta de Jorco, more than 50 meters from the highway boundaries.

Authorized zones for hunting

Zone 1. Province of Guanacaste Zone 2. Provinces of Alajuela and Heredia Zone 3. Provinces of Puntarenas and San José Zone 4. Provinces of Cartago and Limón Hunting is permitted only from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on authorized days.

On minor and major game hunting with weapons and hunting methods authorized in the Regulations to the Wildlife Conservation Law

(Guanacaste). Major and minor game hunting is prohibited, except on the following days: July 2, 3, and 16, 17, and 25; August 2, 6, 7, 15, 20, and 21; September 3, 4, 15, 17, and 18; October 1, 2, 12, 15, and 16; November 5, 6, 19, and 20 of 2005, on which hunting is permitted.

Furthermore, major and minor game hunting is prohibited in the following places:

• a)In the area between the following points on the Tilarán cartographic sheet: Starting from the town of Santa Elena de Monteverde, at the bridge over the Quebrada Rodríguez, on the highway that goes to Las Nubes de Río Chiquito, right bank to the point known as La Esperanza, from this place following the road that goes to San Pedro until intersecting the Río Chiquito, following this watercourse on the right bank to its mouth in the Laguna Arenal, continuing along the right bank of the road leading to El Castillo, to the mouth of the Río Caño Negro, following upstream to its spring, from this point continuing north along the watershed divide and the political limits of the Province of Guanacaste and Alajuela to Cerro Amigos.
• b)In the area delimited by the highway and encompassed by the following towns: Playa El Coco, Sardinal, San Blas, Paso Tempisque, Filadelfia, Belén, Santa Ana, Coyolillo, Portegolpe, Huacas, and Brasilito; following the coastline northward to Playa El Coco.
• c)In the area between the point at coordinates 364,500 and 315,500 of the cartographic sheet Murciélago No. 3048 1 on the Carretera Interamericana Norte, following this highway to the city of Liberia, then following highway 21 of the MOPT to the intersection between the town of Paso Tempisque and the town of San Blas, comprised in the point of coordinates 364,699 and 274,509 of the cartographic sheet Belén 3047 II, then following the highway toward the town of San Blas to the town of Sardinal, following highway 151, heading west to its end at Playas del Coco, this area comprises the Polo Turístico Golfo Papagayo zone as well as its immediate area of influence, continuing along the coast to the point of coordinates 354,500 and 302; Cartographic Sheet Ahogados No. 3048 2, at Cerro Carbonal, boundary of Santa Rosa National Park, continuing along the southern boundary of said park to the initial site at coordinates 364,500 and 315,500 on the Carretera Interamericana.
• d)In the area between the following points: from Punta Coyote, at coordinates 193950 N 396400 E, going northeast to the road that starts in Caletas, at coordinates 193950 N 397150 E. Continue northeast along that same road to San Francisco de Coyote, at coordinates 198650 N 399900 E. Continue NE along the road to Javillo, at coordinates 205925 N 401725 E. Go NW along that road to the crossing that goes toward Quebrada Grande, at coordinates 207375 N 396425 E, then continue NW along the road to the crossing that goes toward Los Ángeles, at coordinates 209525 N 395675 E, from this crossing continue NW along that road to the crossing with the road to San Ramón (Río Ora), at coordinates 213150 N 393650 E, continue NW along the road to San Ramón to the intersection that goes from Cangrejal to San Ramón at coordinates 214275 N 389850 E. Go NE along the road to San Ramón to its intersection with the Chiles River at coordinates 214300 N 389875 E, continue southwest downstream of the Chiles River to its confluence with the Río Ora, at coordinates 213950 N 389600 E, continue southwest downstream of the Río Ora to its mouth at coordinates 205300 N 376950 E, then go SE along the edge of the beach to the starting point at Punta Coyote coordinates 193950 N 396400 E.
• e)In the area encompassed by the hills of Caballito and Quebrada Honda, the area delimited by the road leading from Quebrada Honda, Caballito, and Corralillo until meeting the road between Puerto Humo and Nicoya, following this route to the crossing of Santa Ana, continuing along this road passing through the towns of Santa Ana and Barra Honda to the highway toward Puerto Moreno, going to the town of Quebrada Honda, original starting point.

Said area is located on the cartographic sheets of Talolinga and Matambú, Province of Guanacaste.

• f)In the Indigenous Reserves (except for subsistence hunting carried out by indigenous people with a permit from SINAC).

(Alajuela, Heredia). Major and minor game hunting is prohibited, except on the following days: January 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2005; February 5, 6, 19, and 20, 2005; March 5, 6, 19, and 20, 2005; April 2, 3, 11, 16, and 17, 2005; May 1, 7, 8, 21, and 22, 2005; January 1, 7, 8, 21, 22, 2006; February 4, 5, 18, and 19, 2006; March 4, 5, 18, 19, 2006, on which hunting is permitted.

Furthermore, major and minor game hunting is prohibited in the following places:

• a)In the canton of Grecia and in the districts of Piedades Norte, Los Ángeles, San Isidro de Peñas Blancas, Santiago, Piedades Sur, San Rafael, and Zapotal of the canton of San Ramón; the district of Monterrey of the canton of San Carlos, In the area in the districts of Los Ángeles and Volio of the canton of San Ramón; the area between Alto Villegas of the district of Volio of the canton of San Ramón, starting at the Highway that connects Zarcero with San Ramón at the crossing to Ángeles Norte, continuing along this road to the bridge over Quebrada Plata, continuing along the watercourse downstream to the mouth of the Río Espino, continuing along the right bank upstream to the bridge on the road that connects San Luis with Barranca, from this point continuing along the road to Barranca, following the highway that leads to San Ramón to the starting point located in Alto Villegas and the crossing to Ángeles Norte; in the area between the highway that leads from San Ramón to La Fortuna between the rivers La Esperanza and Río Burro, left bank until bordering El Bosque Eterno de los Niños in the districts of La Tigra de San Carlos and San Isidro de Peñas Blancas of the canton of San Ramón.
• b)In the area between the highway that leads from San Ramón to La Fortuna between the rivers La Esperanza and Río Burro, left bank until bordering El Bosque Eterno de los Niños in the districts of La Tigra de San Carlos and San Isidro de Peñas Blancas of the Canton of San Ramón.
• c)100 m on both banks of the Río San Rafael in Muelle de San Carlos, between the bridge over the highway that connects the community of Muelle with Pital and the mouth of the Río San Rafael in the Río San Carlos.
• d)In the area between the road that goes from the Community of El Tanque to Monterrey de San Carlos, starting at the crossing to Montelimar, continuing along this road to the right, passing through the village of San Andrés, to the village of Nieves, continuing until meeting the road that leads to Los Chiles, passing through Santa Rosa and Acapulco until reaching the crossing of the Río Chimurria, at this point continue to the left on the road that leads toward San Jorge until intercepting the road that joins San Jorge with Chambacú, from this point continue south along the road toward Chambacú, and Cedros, continuing to Mirador and the crossing that leads to Montelimar at the starting point.
• e)One kilometer on the right bank downstream of the Río Virilla, in the area between the Bridge over the Autopista General Cañas and the Piedras Negras Bridge on the highway that connects Puriscal with Turrúcares de Alajuela.
• f)In the Indigenous Reserves (except for subsistence hunting carried out by indigenous people with a permit from SINAC).

(Puntarenas, San José). Major and minor game hunting is prohibited, except on the following days: July 2, 3, and 16, 17, and 25; August 2, 6, 7, 15, and 20, and 21; September 3, 4, 15, and 17, 18; October 1, 2, 12, 15, and 16; November 5, 6, 19, and 20 of 2005 on which hunting is permitted.

Furthermore, major and minor game hunting is prohibited in the following places:

• a)On Isla San Lucas.
• b)In the area between the following points on the Las Juntas cartographic sheet: Starting from the bridge over the Río Aranjuez on the Carretera Interamericana Norte, right bank following said highway to the bridge over the Río Lagarto, from this point upstream along the right bank to the confluence of the Quebrada Rodríguez, near Santa Elena, from this point following the right bank upstream to its spring in Cerro Chomogo, continuing south along the watershed divide and the political boundaries of the province of Alajuela and Puntarenas until intersecting Cerro Ojo de Agua, continuing south to the spring of the Río Aranjuecito, continuing downstream to the starting point at the bridge over the Carretera Interamericana Norte.
• c)In the area comprised in the single district of Parrita, of the canton of Parrita, starting from the town of Valle Vasconia between the road that leads to the Fila Aguacate until intersecting the watercourse of the Río Negro, following from this point the watercourse of the same river downstream to its confluence with the Río Chires. From this point, follow the watercourse of this river to intersect the Puriscal Parrita highway at the town of Vista de Mar; and from here, follow the Carretera Costanera to intersect the Río Pirris, upstream to reach the town of Valle Vasconia.
• d)In the area between Golfito of the province of Puntarenas, following the highway that leads to Río Claro, continuing along the left bank of the Carretera Interamericana Sur to the bridge over the Río Térraba, in Palmar Sur, from this point continue along the right bank of the river to Boca Coronado, to close finally at Golfito, original point, this prohibition excludes the hunting of ducks and pigeons carried out in lagoons and rice-planted areas located outside protected areas.
• e)One kilometer on both banks of the Río María Aguilar, in the area between the Los Anonos bridge on the old road that connects San José with Escazú and the mouth in the Río Virilla.
• f)One kilometer on the left bank of the Río Virilla, downstream, in the area between the Bridge over the Autopista General Cañas and the Piedras Negras bridge on the highway that connects Puriscal with Turrúcares de Alajuela.
• g)The hunting of the band-tailed pigeon on the highway that runs between Vuelta de Jorco and Palmichal de Acosta, on both banks, and on Cerro el Guabal located at coordinates 205,500 North latitude and 51,800 West longitude, Lambert North, Caraigres Sheet.
• h)In the Indigenous Reserves (except for subsistence hunting carried out by indigenous people with a permit from SINAC).
• i)In the cantons of Pérez Zeledón, Buenos Aires, and Coto Brus, except as established in subsection f of article 6 of this decree, where hunting may take place beyond the 50 meters measured from the edge of the highway and up to the limits of the protected zone.

(Cartago, Limón). Major and minor game hunting is prohibited, except on the following days: January 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2005; February 5, 6, 19, and 20, 2005; March 5, 6, 19, and 20, 2005; April 2, 3, 11, 16, and 17, 2005; May 1, 7, 8, 21, and 22, 2005; January 1, 7, 8, 21, 22, 2006; February 4, 5, 18, and 19, 2006; March 4, 5, 18, 19, 2006, on which hunting is permitted.

Furthermore, major and minor game hunting is prohibited in the following places:

• a)Cantons of Jiménez and Turrialba, province of Cartago.
• b)In the district of Orosí of the canton of Paraíso and the district of Tobosi, San Isidro, and Patio de Agua of the canton of El Guarco, except the sites established in subsection f of article 6 of this decree, in this zone hunting may take place beyond the 50 meters measured from the edge of the highway and up to the limits of the protected zone.
• c)Of wild rabbits in the cantons: Cartago, Paraíso, La Unión, Jiménez, Alvarado, and Oreamuno, all of the province of Cartago, with the exception of the dates October 1, 2, 12, 15, and 16 and November 5, 6, 19, and 20, 2005.
• d)In the Indigenous Reserves, except for subsistence hunting carried out by indigenous people with a permit from SINAC.

• a)Odocoileus virginianus: White-tailed deer; 2 males per year.
• b)Canis latrans: coyote; 6 animals per year, subject to hunting season authorized by zone.

• a)Didelphis marsupialis: common opossum; 5 pieces per year, per hunter.
• b)Didelphis virginiana: common opossum; 5 pieces per year, per hunter.
• c)Sylvilagus brasilensis: forest rabbit; 10 pieces per year, per hunter.
• d)Sylvilagus floridanus: forest rabbit; 10 pieces per year, per hunter.
• e)Sciurus variegatoides: common squirrel; 10 pieces per year, per hunter.
• f)Agouti paca: paca (tepezcuintle); 2 pieces per year per hunter.
• g)Dasyprocta punctata: agouti (guatuza); 2 pieces per year, per hunter.
• h)Urocyon cineroargenteus: gray fox; 2 pieces per year, per hunter.
• i)Ctenosaura similis: black spiny-tailed iguana (garrobo); 4 pieces per year, per hunter.

General provisions on major and minor game hunting

7317, Wildlife Conservation Law, the Subregional Offices, as well as the Administration offices of the National Wildlife Refuges and those other offices established for this purpose in the different Conservation Areas that make up the National System of Conservation Areas, shall be in charge of authorizing, issuing, and signing or denying licenses for continental sport hunting and fishing. In those protected areas that include marine extensions, the administrative offices of said areas shall be in charge of authorizing, issuing, and signing or denying sport fishing permits.

The bag limit may be accumulative per hunting days in the case of ducks, pigeons, and quails. The hunter has the obligation to report the number of pieces hunted per day, at the office of the MINAE Conservation Area or the nearest Proximity Police Station to the visited hunting zone, who must keep a detailed record of the reports provided by the hunters.

24 of the regulations to the Wildlife Conservation Law, via administrative resolution, only when it concerns:

• a)Hunting tournaments are prohibited in the months of June - July - August.
• b)Tracking of tracks prepared for the purposes of the tournament on a specific day; for which the harassment, mistreatment, or killing of wild animals is not authorized.
• c)Minor game hunting tournaments of songbirds and plumage birds and their release at the same capture site, with a maximum of 2 dates per site per authorized period. Associations may only hold one tournament per site per year.
• d)Singing tournaments of songbirds in indoor or enclosed sites appropriately conditioned for this purpose.

For song and plumage bird hunting tournaments, participants must carry and show, if required, the corresponding valid hunting license. Hunting tournaments must be supervised by SINAC officials from the corresponding Conservation Area. Associations must submit a report on the birds captured and released.

Inland Fishing

a- For guapote (Parachromis spp), róbalo (Centropomus undecimalis), sábalo (Megalops atlanticus), and other fish species, in the following rivers and their tributaries: Frío, Zapote, Niño or Pizote, lagoons of the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge (Refugio de Fauna Silvestre de Caño Negro) and the Las Camelias Wildlife Refuge (Refugio de Fauna Silvestre las Camelias), between April 1 and July 31 inclusive. Outside this period, fishing is permitted with a limit of 5 fish with a minimum size of 25 cm in length, per person per day. Fishing for fish cultivated in ponds may be carried out year-round.

b- For gaspar (Atractosteus tropicus) in the following rivers and their tributaries: Frío, Zapote, Niño or Pizote, lagoons of the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge and the Las Camelias Wildlife Refuge, between March 1 and August 31 inclusive. Outside this period, fishing is permitted with a limit of 2 fish with a minimum size of 60 cm in length, per person per day.

c- For all freshwater fish species in all rivers including their tributaries, lakes, and lagoons (except as provided in subsections c and d of this article), between September 1 and November 30 inclusive. Outside this period, fishing is permitted with a limit of 5 specimens with a minimum size of 25 cm in length, per licensed person per day. An exception is made for tepemechín (Agonostomus monticola), for which no length limit is established, and gaspar (Atractosteus tropicus), for which a minimum size of 60 cm is set.

d- For river prawn or shrimp (langostino o camarón de río) (Macrobrachium spp.) in all national rivers between May 15 and November 30 inclusive.

Outside this period, fishing is permitted with a limit of 10 specimens per person per day.

e- Sport fishing in the Hule Lagoon, located in the Bosque Alegre Private Wildlife Refuge (Refugio de Fauna Privado Bosque Alegre), Cariblanco.

f- In Indigenous Reserves (except subsistence fishing carried out by indigenous people with SINAC permission).

g- 100 meters on both banks of the San Rafael River in Muelle de San Carlos, between the bridge on the highway connecting the community of Muelle with Pital and the mouth of the San Rafael River at the San Carlos River.

• a)Sport fishing, with rod and reel, as well as handlines, between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
• b)Fishing every day of the year in:
• 1)The Reventazón River from Palomo de Orosí to its mouth, with the exception of its tributaries. The limit is set at 5 fish exceeding 25 cm in size, per licensed angler per day.
• 2)Fishing carried out with handline or rod and reel in the Arenal Reservoir. The limit is set at 10 fish per licensed angler per day.
• 3)At the Bars of Colorado, Parismina, Tortuguero, and Matina.

The limit at the aforementioned bars shall be 5 fish per angler per day. A river bar shall be understood as the channel extending up to one kilometer upstream, starting from its mouth.

• c)Subsistence fishing carried out by Indigenous people in the Indigenous Reserves with SINAC permission.
• d)Fishing in Wildlife Refuges and National Parks when the activity is contemplated in the Management Plan or public use regulations.

On the Keeping of Wild Animals in Captivity

7317 of October 30, 1992, individuals who capture wild animals authorized by this decree and under the corresponding license must register said animals with the subregional office of the MINAE's National System of Conservation Areas corresponding within one month following the capture.

In the case of keeping plumage birds in captivity in aviaries with minimum dimensions of 4 cubic meters that are properly conditioned, a limit of 15 birds in total is established per aviary per licensed permit holder.

Además de aquellas fincas que se encuentran bajo la administración de las Áreas de Conservación.

Prohibiciones

• a)"Calentar" aves silvestres en jaulas con trampas o jaulas cogedoras durante los días no autorizados para la caza.
• b)La caza de aves silvestres con luz artificial durante la noche, al igual que la captura de aves con pegamentos y redes de niebla.
• c)El traslado dentro del país de aves en jaulas con trampas o jaulas cogedoras en temporadas no autorizadas para la caza.
• d)La caza de todas las especies de aves silvestres residentes y migratorias en todo el territorio nacional, con excepción de las que se indiquen en el presente Decreto Ejecutivo.
• e)Transportar aves canoras (aves con llamativos cantos) o de plumaje (aves con plumaje de llamativos colores) en jaulas echadoras o con trampas, en temporada no autorizadas para la caza, sin los respectivos permisos del SINAC (licencia de caza y permiso de tenencia vigente y permiso de traslado).
• f)La caza de aves canoras y de plumaje, en los lugares que se indican a continuación:
• 1)En los distritos de Los Ángeles, Piedades Norte y San Rafael del cantón de San Ramón; la zona comprendida entre Alto Villegas del distrito de Volio del cantón de San Ramón, empezando en la Carretera que comunica Zarcero con San Ramón en el cruce a Ángeles Norte, siguiendo por este camino hasta el puente de la Quebrada Plata continuando por el cauce aguas abajo hasta la desembocadura en el Río Espino, continuando por la margen derecha aguas arriba hasta el puente en el camino que comunica San Luis con Barranca, de este punto continua por el camino hasta Barranca, siguiendo por la carretera que conduce a San Ramón hasta el punto inicial ubicado en Alto Villegas y el cruce a Ángeles Norte; en la zona comprendida entre la carretera que conduce de San Ramón a la Fortuna entre los ríos la Esperanza y Burro, margen izquierda hasta incluir El Bosque Eterno de los Niños en los distritos de La Tigra de San Carlos y San Isidro de Peñas Blancas del cantón de San Ramón.
• 2)En el distrito de Monterrey de San Carlos y en la zona comprendida entre la carretera que lleva de la Comunidad del Tanque a Monterrey de San Carlos, iniciando en el cruce a Montelimar, siguiendo por este camino a la derecha, pasando por el poblado de San Andrés, hasta el poblado de Nieves siguiendo hasta encontrarse con la carretera que conduce a los Chiles, pasando por Santa Rosa y Acapulco hasta llegar al paso del Río Chimurria, en este sitio se sigue a la izquierda sobre el camino que lleva hacia San Jorge hasta interceptar la carretera que une San Jorge con Chambacú, de este punto se sigue al sur por la carretera hacia Chambacú, y Cedros, siguiendo hasta Mirador y el cruce que lleva a Montelimar en el punto inicial.
• 3)En los cantones de Puriscal, Turrubares, Mora, Dota y Tarrazú y, Perez Zeledón de la provincia de San José.
• 4)En el cantón de Aguirre, Buenos Aires y Coto Brus de la provincia de Puntarenas.
• 5)En el cantón del Guarco de la provincia de Cartago.
• 6)Un kilómetro en ambas márgenes del río Virilla, en la zona comprendida entre el puente sobre la autopista General Cañas y el puente de Piedras Negras en la carretera que comunica Puriscal con Turrúcares de Alajuela.
• 7)Partiendo del puente sobre el Río Aranjuez en la Carretera Interamericana Norte, margen derecha siguiendo por dicha carretera hasta el punte sobre el Río Lagarto, de este punto aguas arriba por la margen derecha hasta la confluencia de la Quebrada Rodríguez, cerca de Santa Elena, de este punto siguiendo por la margen derecha aguas arriba hasta su nacimiento en el Cerro Chomogo, continuando al sur por la divisoria de aguas y los límites políticos de la provincia de Alajuela y Puntarenas hasta intersecar el Cerro Ojo de Agua, siguiendo al sur hasta el nacimiento del Río Aranjuecito, continuando aguas abajo hasta el punto inicial en el puente sobre la Carretera Interamericana Norte.
• 8)Se prohíbe la caza del jilguero (Myadestes melanops) en todo el territorio nacional.

Aves canoras:

• a)Aguío coroniamarillo, monjito (Euphonia luteicapilla) del 1º de enero al 30 de setiembre.
• b)Aguío gorgiamarillo (Euphonia hirundinacea) del 1º de enero al 30 setiembre.
• c)Euphonia menuda, canaria (Euphonia minuta) del 1º de enero al 30 setiembre.
• d)Finito gargantinegra, finito (Euphonia affinis) del 1º de enero al 30 setiembre.
• e)Gallito, semillerito cariamarillo (Tiaris olivacea) del 1º de abril al 30 de setiembre.
• f)Setillero collarejo (Sporophila torqueola) del 1º de abril al 30 de setiembre.
• g)Setillero garganta negra (Sporophila aurita) del 1º de abril al 30 de setiembre.

Aves de plumaje:

• a)Tangara moteada, zebra (Tangara guttata) del 1º de marzo al 30 de setiembre.

Caza menor de aves con arma de fuego:

• a)Paloma collareja (Columba fasciata) durante el período comprendido del 1º de febrero al 31 de agosto.
• b)Paloma arrocera (Zenaida macroura), paloma alablanca (Zenaida asiática), del 1º de abril al 31 de octubre.
• c)Piches alablanca (Dendrocygma autumnalis) y Cerceta aliazul (Anas discor) del 1º de abril al 31 de octubre.
• d)Codorniz común (Colinus leucopogon) del 1º de abril al 31 de setiembre.
• e)Paloma morada (Columba flavirostris, Columba subvinacea, Columba cayanensis, Columba nigrirostris) del 1º de marzo al 30 setiembre.

Autorizaciones Caza menor de aves

• a)En tiempo autorizado y únicamente con una jaula cogedora por cazador.
• b)Máximo 2 machos adultos de cada especie autorizada por cazador por año, en todo el territorio nacional, excepto lo establecido en el inciso f) del artículo 3º de este decreto.
• c)Únicamente durante los días sábados, domingos y feriados autorizados en este decreto, con horario de 6 a.m. a 5 p.m.
• d)En caso de torneos de caza de aves y la posterior liberación de las aves capturadas, estos torneos son para un día específico en un sitio autorizado según la solicitud presentada, con un máximo de dos fechas por temporada para un sitio. Los sitios deben estar a más de 5 km. de distancia uno de otro.

• a)Codorniz común (Colinus leucopogon), 10 piezas por día por cazador, en todo el territorio nacional en el período comprendido entre el 1º de octubre y el 31 de marzo.
• b)Zanate (Quiscalus mexicanus), sin límite de piezas, en todo el territorio nacional, en fechas autorizados para la caza en cada zona (artículos 10, 11, 12, 13 del presente Decreto). En la provincia de Guanacaste se permite la caza durante todo el año.
• c)Paloma arrocera (Zenaida macroura); paloma alablanca (Zenaida asiática), 20 piezas por día, por cazador, en todo el territorio nacional, en el período comprendido entre el 1º de noviembre y el 31 de marzo.
• d)Piches alablanca (Dendrocygma autumnalis) y cerceta aliazul (Anas discor), 15 piezas por día, por cazador, en todo el territorio nacional, en el período comprendido entre el 1° de noviembre y el 31 de marzo.
• e)Paloma morada (Columba flavirostris, Columba subvinacea, Columba cayanensis, Columba nigrirostris), 10 piezas por día, por cazador, en todo el territorio nacional, excepto las zonas delimitadas en los incisos 10; 11, 12 y 13 de este decreto, cuando por la distribución de estas especies corresponda, en el período comprendido entre el 1° de octubre y el 29 de febrero.
• f)Paloma collareja (Columba fasciata), 10 piezas por día, por cazador, en el período comprendido entre el 1° de setiembre y el 31 de enero, en los siguientes lugares:
• 1)En fincas privadas en las márgenes de la Carretera Interamericana Sur, entre el Kilómetro 34 hasta el Km 39, entre el Km 41 y el Km 47, entre el Km 52 y el Km 55, entre el Km 57 y el Km 64 (sitio conocido como Madreselva). Únicamente a más de 50 m del límite de la carretera y fuera de los límites de la Reserva Forestal Los Santos y El Parque Nacional Tapantí Macizo de la Muerte. En las zonas no autorizadas (entre el kilómetro 39 al Km 40, entre el Km 41 al Km 46, entre el Km 52 al Km 54, y entre el Km 55 al Km 56) que incluye poblados a la orilla de la carretera solo se permitirá la caza en fincas particulares fuera de la Reservas Forestal Los Santos y El Parque Nacional Tapantí Macizo de la Muerte en sitios que se ubiquen a 1 Km o más de la carretera.
• 2)En fincas privadas, en ambas márgenes de la carretera entre Carrizal de Alajuela y Poasito, a más de 50 metros de los límites de carretera.
• 3)En fincas privadas en ambas márgenes de las carreteras entre Tarbaca y Vuelta de Jorco, a más de 50 metros de los límites de carretera.

Zonas autorizadas para la caza

Zona 1. Provincia de Guanacaste Zona 2. Provincias de Alajuela y Heredia Zona 3. Provincias de Puntarenas y San José Zona 4. Provincias de Cartago y Limón La caza se permite solamente de 6 a.m. a 5 p.m. en los días autorizados.

De la caza menor y mayor con armas y métodos de caza autorizados en el Reglamento de la Ley de Conservación de la Vida Silvestre

(Guanacaste). Se prohíbe la caza mayor y menor, con excepción de los siguientes días: 2, 3 y 16, 17 y 25 de julio; 2, 6, 7, 15, 20 y 21 de agosto; 3, 4, 15, 17, 18 de setiembre; 1º, 2, 12, 15 y 16 de octubre; 5, 6, 19 y 20 de noviembre del 2005 en los cuales se permite la caza.

Además se prohíbe la caza mayor y menor en los siguientes sitios:

• a)En la zona comprendida entre los siguientes puntos en la hoja cartográfica Tilarán: Partiendo del pueblo de Santa Elena de Monteverde, en el puente sobre la Quebrada Rodríguez, en la carretera que lleva a Las Nubes de Río Chiquito, margen derecha hasta el punto conocido como la Esperanza, de este lugar siguiendo el camino que lleva a San Pedro hasta intersectar el Río Chiquito, siguiendo por este cauce en la margen derecha hasta su desembocadura en la Laguna Arenal continuando por la margen derecha del camino que conduce a el Castillo, hasta la desembocadura del Río Caño Negro, siguiendo aguas arriba hasta su nacimiento, de este punto siguiendo al norte por la divisoria de aguas y los limites políticos de la Provincia de Guanacaste y Alajuela hasta el Cerro Amigos.
• b)En el área delimitada por la carretera y comprendida entre las siguientes poblaciones: Playa El Coco, Sardinal, San Blas, Paso Tempisque, Filadelfia, Belén, Santa Ana, Coyolillo, Portegolpe, Huacas y Brasilito; siguiendo la línea de la costa en dirección norte hasta la Playa El Coco.
• c)En la zona comprendida entre el punto de las coordenadas 364,500 y 315,500 de la hoja cartográfica Murciélago Nº 3048 1 sobre la carretera interamericana norte, siguiendo por esta carretera hasta la ciudad de Liberia, luego siguiendo la carretera 21 del MOPT hasta el cruce entre el poblado de Paso Tempisque y el poblado de San Blas, comprendido en el punto de las coordenadas 364,699 y 274,509 de la hoja cartográfica Belén 3047 II, luego siguiendo la carretera hacia el poblado de San Blas hasta el poblado de Sardinal, siguiendo la carretera 151, con sentido oeste hasta su final en Playas del Coco, esta área comprende la zona del Polo Turístico Golfo Papagayo así como el área de influencia inmediata al mismo, continuando por la costa hasta el punto de coordenadas 354,500 y 302; Hoja Cartográfica Ahogados Nº 3048 2, en el Cerro Carbonal, limite del Parque Nacional Santa Rosa, continuando por el límite sur de dicho parque hasta el sitio inicial en coordenadas 364,500 y 315,500 sobre la Carretera Interamericana.
• d)En el área comprendida entre los siguientes puntos: de Punta Coyote, en coordenadas 193950 N 396400 E, siguiendo al noreste al camino que inicia en Caletas, en coordenadas 193950 N 397150 E. Se continúa al noreste por ese mismo camino hasta San Francisco de Coyote, en coordenadas 198650 N 399900 E. Se sigue al NE por el camino hasta Javillo, en coordenadas 205925 N 401725 E. Sigue al NW por ese camino hasta el cruce que va hacia Quebrada Grande, en coordenadas 207375 N 396425 E, continúa luego al NW por el camino hasta el cruce que va hacia Los Ángeles, en coordenadas 209525 N 395675 E, de este cruce se continúa al NW por ese camino hasta el cruce con el camino a San Ramón (Río Ora), en coordenadas 213150 N 393650 E, continúa al NW por el camino a San Ramón hasta la intersección que va de Cangrejal a San Ramón en coordenadas 214275 N 389850 E. Sigue al NE por el camino a San Ramón hasta la intersección de este con el río Chiles en coordenadas 214300 N 389875 E, continúa al Suroeste aguas abajo del río Chiles hasta su confluencia con el Río Ora, en coordenadas 213950 N 389600 E, continúa al suroeste aguas abajo del río Ora hasta su desembocadura en coordenadas 205300 N 376950 E, sigue luego al SE por la orilla de la playa hasta el punto inicial en Punta Coyote coordenadas 193950 N 396400 E.
• e)En la zona comprendida en los cerros Caballito y Quebrada Honda, área delimitada por el camino que conduce de Quebrada Honda, Caballito y Corralillo hasta encontrar el camino entre Puerto Humo y Nicoya, siguiendo por esta ruta hasta el cruce de Santa Ana, continuando por este camino pasando por los poblados de Santa Ana y Barra Honda hasta la carretera hacia Puerto Moreno, siguiendo hasta el poblado de Quebrada Honda, punto original de partida.

Dicha área se encuentra ubicada en las hojas cartográficas Talolinga y Matambú, Provincia de Guanacaste.

• f)En las Reservas Indígenas (excepto la caza de subsistencia que realicen los indígenas con permiso del SINAC).

(Alajuela, Heredia). Se prohíbe la caza mayor y menor, con excepción de los siguientes días: 1º, 2, 15 y 16 de enero del 2005; 5, 6, 19 y 20 de febrero del 2005; 5, 6, 19 y 20 de marzo del 2005, 2, 3, 11, 16 y 17 de abril del 2005; 1, 7, 8, 21 y 22 de mayo del 2005; 1, 7, 8, 21, 22 de enero del 2006; 4, 5, 18 y 19 de febrero del 2006, 4, 5, 18, 19 de marzo del 2006 en los cuales se permite la caza.

Además se prohíbe la caza mayor y menor en los siguientes sitios:

• a)En el cantón de Grecia y en los distritos de Piedades Norte, Los Ángeles, San Isidro de Peñas Blancas, Santiago, Piedades Sur, San Rafael y Zapotal del cantón de San Ramón; el distrito de Monterrey del cantón de San Carlos, En la zona comprendida en los distritos de Los Ángeles y Volio del cantón de San Ramón; la zona comprendida entre Alto Villegas del distrito de Volio del cantón de San Ramón, empezando en la Carretera que comunica Zarcero con San Ramón en el cruce a Ángeles Norte, siguiendo por este camino hasta el puente de la Quebrada Plata continuando por el cauce aguas abajo hasta la desembocadura en el Río Espino, continuando por la margen derecha aguas arriba hasta el puente en el camino que comunica San Luis con Barranca, de este punto continua por el camino hasta Barranca, siguiendo por la carretera que conduce a San Ramón hasta el punto inicial ubicado en Alto Villegas y el cruce a Ángeles Norte; en la zona comprendida entre la carretera que conduce de San Ramón a la Fortuna entre los ríos la Esperanza y Burro, margen izquierda hasta incluir El Bosque Eterno de los Niños en los distritos de La Tigra de San Carlos y San Isidro de Peñas Blancas del cantón de San Ramón.
• b)En la zona comprendida entre la carretera que conduce de San Ramón a la Fortuna entre los ríos la Esperanza y Río Burro, margen izquierda hasta colindar con El Bosque Eterno de los Niños en los distritos de La Tigra de San Carlos y San Isidro de Peñas Blancas del Cantón de San Ramón.
• c)100 mts. en ambas márgenes del Río San Rafael en Muelle de San Carlos, entre el puente sobre la carretera que comunica la comunidad de Muelle con Pital y la desembocadura del Río San Rafael en el río San Carlos.
• d)En la zona comprendida entre la carretera que lleva de la Comunidad del Tanque a Monterrey de San Carlos, iniciando en el cruce a Montelimar, siguiendo por este camino a la derecha, pasando por el poblado de San Andrés, hasta el poblado de Nieves siguiendo hasta encontrarse con la carretera que conduce a los Chiles, pasando por Santa Rosa y Acapulco hasta llegar al paso del Río Chimurria, en este sitio se sigue a la izquierda sobre el camino que lleva hacia San Jorge hasta interceptar la carretera que une San Jorge con Chambacú, de este punto se sigue al sur por la carretera hacia Chambacú, y Cedros, siguiendo hasta Mirador y el cruce que lleva a Montelimar en el punto inicial.
• e)Un kilómetro en la margen derecha aguas abajo del Río Virilla, en la zona comprendida entre el Puente sobre la autopista General Cañas y el Puente de Piedras Negras en la carretera que comunica Puriscal con Turrúcares de Alajuela.
• f)En las Reservas Indígenas (excepto la caza de subsistencia que realicen los indígenas con permiso del SINAC).

(Puntarenas, San José). Se prohíbe la caza mayor y menor, con excepción de los siguientes días: 2, 3 y 16, 17 y 25 de julio; 2, 6, 7, 15 y 20 y 21 de agosto; 3, 4, 15 y 17, 18 de setiembre; 1º, 2, 12, 15 y 16 de octubre 5, 6, 19 y 20 de noviembre del 2005 en los cuales se permite la caza.

Además se prohíbe la caza mayor y menor en los siguientes sitios:

• a)En la Isla San Lucas.
• b)En la zona comprendida entre los siguientes puntos en la hoja cartográfica las Juntas: Partiendo del puente sobre el Río Aranjuez en la Carretera Interamericana Norte, margen derecha siguiendo por dicha carretera hasta el punte sobre el Río Lagarto, de este punto aguas arriba por la margen derecha hasta la confluencia de la Quebrada Rodríguez, cerca de Santa Elena, de este punto siguiendo por la margen derecha aguas arriba hasta su nacimiento en el Cerro Chomogo, continuando al sur por la divisoria de aguas y los límites políticos de la provincia de Alajuela y Puntarenas hasta intersecar el Cerro Ojo de Agua, siguiendo al sur hasta el nacimiento del Río Aranjuecito, continuando aguas abajo hasta el punto inicial en el puente sobre la Carretera Interamericana Norte.
• c)En la zona comprendida en el distrito único Parrita, del cantón de Parrita, partiendo del poblado de Valle Vasconia entre el camino que conduce a la Fila Aguacate hasta intersectar el cauce del río Negro, siguiendo a partir de este punto el cauce del mismo río aguas abajo hasta su confluencia con el Río Chires. A partir de este punto se sigue el cauce de este río hasta intersectar la carretera Puriscal Parrita a la altura del poblado de Vista de Mar; y de aquí se sigue la Carretera Costanera hasta intersectar el Río Pirris, aguas arriba hasta llegar al poblado de Valle Vasconia.
• d)En la zona comprendida entre Golfito de la provincia de Puntarenas, siguiendo por la carretera que conduce hasta Río Claro, continuando por la margen izquierda de la Carretera Interamericana Sur hasta el puente sobre el Río Térraba, en Palmar Sur, de este punto continua por la margen derecha del río hasta la Boca Coronado, para cerrar finalmente en Golfito, punto original, se exceptúa de esta prohibición la caza de patos y palomas que se realice en lagunas y áreas sembradas de arroz ubicadas fuera de áreas protegidas.
• e)Un kilómetro en ambas márgenes del Río María Aguilar, en la zona comprendida entre el puente Los Anonos en la carretera vieja que comunica a San José con Escazú y la desembocadura en el Río Virilla.
• f)Un kilómetro en la margen izquierda del río Virilla, aguas abajo, en la zona comprendida entre el Puente sobre la autopista General Cañas y el puente de Piedras Negras en la carretera que comunica Puriscal con Turrúcares de Alajuela.
• g)La caza de la paloma collareja en la carretera que conduce entre Vuelta de Jorco y Palmichal de Acosta, en ambas márgenes y en el Cerro el Guabal ubicado en coordenadas 205,500 latitud Norte y 51,800 longitud oeste, Lambert Norte, Hoja Caraigres.
• h)En las Reservas Indígenas (excepto la caza de subsistencia que realicen los indígenas con permiso del SINAC).
• i)En los cantones de Pérez Zeledón, Buenos Aires y Coto Brus, excepto lo establecido en el inciso f del artículo 6 de este decreto, en donde se podrá cazar luego de los 50 metros medidos de la margen de la carretera y hasta los límites de la zona protegida.

(Cartago, Limón). Se prohíbe la caza mayor y menor, con excepción de los siguientes días: 1º, 2, 15 y 16 de enero del 2005; 5, 6, 19 y 20 de febrero del 2005; 5, 6, 19 y 20 de marzo del 2005, 2, 3, 11, 16 y 17 de abril del 2005; 1º, 7, 8, 21 y 22 de mayo del 2005; 1º, 7, 8, 21, 22 de enero del 2006; 4, 5, 18 y 19 de febrero del 2006, 4, 5, 18, 19 de marzo del 2006, en la cuales se permite la caza.

Además se prohíbe la caza mayor y menor en los siguientes sitios:

• a)Cantones de Jiménez y Turrialba, provincia de Cartago.
• b)En el distrito de Orosí del cantón de Paraíso y el distrito de Tobosi, San Isidro y Patio de Agua del cantón del Guarco, excepto los sitios establecidos en el inciso f del artículo 6 de este decreto, en esta zona se podrá cazar luego de los 50 metros medidos de la margen de la carretera y hasta los límites de la zona protegida.
• c)De conejos silvestres en los cantones: Cartago, Paraíso, La Unión, Jiménez, Alvarado y Oreamuno todos de la provincia de Cartago, con excepción de las fechas 1º, 2, 12, 15 y 16 de octubre y 5, 6, 19 y 20 de noviembre del 2005.
• d)En las Reservas Indígenas, excepto la caza de subsistencia que realicen los indígenas con permiso del SINAC.

• a)Odocoileus virginianus: Venado cola blanca; 2 machos por año.
• b)Canis latrans: coyote; 6 animales por año, sujeto a temporada de caza autorizada por zona.

• a)Didelphis marsupialis: zorro pelón; 5 piezas por año, por cazador.
• b)Didelphis virginiana: zorro pelón; 5 piezas por año, por cazador.
• c)Sylvilagus brasilensis: conejo de monte; 10 piezas por año, por cazador.
• d)Sylvilagus floridanus: conejo de monte; 10 piezas por año, por cazador.
• e)Sciurus variegatoides: ardilla común; 10 piezas por año, por cazador.
• f)Agouti paca: tepezcuintle; 2 piezas por año por cazador.
• g)Dasyprocta punctata: guatuza; 2 piezas por año, por cazador.
• h)Urocyon cineroargenteus: zorra gris; 2 piezas por año, por cazador.
• i)Ctenosaura similis: garrobo; 4 piezas por año, por cazador.

Generalidades sobre la caza mayor y menor

En aquellas áreas protegidas que incluyen extensiones marinas, las oficinas administradoras de dichas áreas, serán las encargadas de autorizar, emitir y suscribir o denegar los permisos de pesca deportiva.

El límite de piezas podrá ser acumulativo por días de caza en el caso de los patos, palomas y codornices. El cazador tiene la obligación de reportar el número de piezas cazado por día, en la oficina del Área de Conservación del MINAE o a la Delegación de la Policía de Proximidad más cercana a la zona de caza visitada, quienes deberán llevar un registro detallado de los reportes proporcionados por los cazadores.

24 del reglamento de la Ley de Conservación de la Vida Silvestre, mediante resolución administrativa, solo cuando se trate de:

• a)Se prohíben los torneos de caza en los meses de junio - julio - agosto.
• b)Rastreo de huellas preparadas para los efectos del torneo en un día determinado; para lo cual no se autoriza el acoso, maltrato o muerte de animales silvestres.
• c)Torneos de caza menor de aves canoras y de plumaje y su liberación en el mismo sitio de captura, con un máximo de 2 fechas por sitio por el período autorizado. Las asociaciones únicamente podrán realizar un torneo por sitio por año.
• d)Torneos de canto de aves canoras en sitios bajo techo o cerrados y acondicionados para tal efecto.

Para los torneos de caza menor de aves canoras y de plumaje, los participantes deberán portar y mostrar si fuera requerido la correspondiente licencia de caza vigente. Los torneos de caza deberán ser fiscalizados por funcionarios del SINAC del Área de Conservación correspondiente. Las asociaciones deberán presentar un informe sobre las aves capturadas y liberadas.

De la pesca continental

a- De guapote (Parachromis spp), róbalo (Centropomus undecimalis), sábalo (Megalops atlanticus) y demás especies de peces, en los siguientes ríos y sus afluentes: Frío, Zapote, Niño o Pizote, lagunas del Refugio de Fauna Silvestre de Caño Negro y el Refugio de Fauna Silvestre las Camelias, entre el 1º de abril y el 31 de julio inclusive. Fuera de este período, se podrá pescar con un límite de 5 peces con un tamaño mínimo de 25 cm. de longitud, por persona por día. La pesca de peces cultivados en estanques se puede realizar durante todo el año.

b- Del gaspar (Atractosteus tropicus) en los siguientes ríos y sus afluentes: Frío, Zapote, Niño o Pizote, lagunas del Refugio de Fauna Silvestre de Caño Negro y el Refugio de Fauna Silvestre las Camelias, entre el 1º de marzo y el 31 de agosto inclusive. Fuera de este período, se podrá pescar con un límite de 2 peces con un tamaño mínimo de 60 cm. de longitud, por persona por día.

c- De todas las especies de peces de agua dulce en todos los ríos incluyendo sus afluentes, lagos y lagunas (exceptuando lo establecido en el inciso c y d de este artículo), entre el 1 de setiembre y el 30 de noviembre inclusive. Fuera de ese plazo se podrá pescar con un límite de 5 piezas con un tamaño mínimo de 25 cm. de longitud, por persona con licencia por día. Se exceptúa el tepemechín (Agonostomus monticola), para el cual no se establece límite de longitud y gaspar (Atractosteus tropicus) para el cual se fija un tamaño mínimo de 60 cm.

d- Del langostino o camarón de río (Macrobrachium spp.) en todos los ríos nacionales entre el 15 de mayo y el 30 de noviembre, inclusive.

Fuera de este período, se podrá pescar con un límite de 10 piezas por persona, por día.

e- La pesca deportiva en la Laguna de Hule, ubicada en el Refugio de Fauna Privado Bosque Alegre, Cariblanco.

f- En las Reservas Indígenas (excepto la pesca de subsistencia que realicen los indígenas con permiso del SINAC).

g- 100 mts. en ambas márgenes del Río San Rafael en Muelle de San Carlos, entre el puente sobre la carretera que comunica la comunidad de Muelle con Pital y la desembocadura del Río San Rafael en el Río San Carlos.

• a)La pesca deportiva, con caña y carrete, así como cuerdas de mano, en un horario de 6:00 a.m. a 5:00 p.m.
• b)La pesca todos los días del año en:
• 1)El Río Reventazón desde Palomo de Orosí hasta su desembocadura, con excepción de sus afluentes. El límite de piezas se establece en 5 peces con un tamaño superior a 25 cm., por pescador con licencia por día.
• 2)La que se realice con cuerda de mano o caña y carrete en el Embalse de Arenal. Se establece el límite de piezas en 10 peces por pescador con licencia por día.
• 3)En las Barras de Colorado, Parismina, Tortuguero y Matina.

El límite de piezas en las barras citadas será de 5 peces por pescador por día. Se entenderá por barra de un río como el cauce comprendido hasta un kilómetro aguas arriba, partiendo de su boca.

• c)La pesca de subsistencia que realicen los Indígenas en las Reservas Indígenas con permiso del SINAC.
• d)La pesca en Refugios de Fauna Silvestre y Parques Nacionales cuando la actividad esté contemplada en el Plan de Manejo o reglamentos de uso público.

24 del reglamento de la Ley de Conservación de la Vida Silvestre), a grupos organizados, dependiendo del comportamiento de las poblaciones, mediante resolución administrativa. Los participantes deberán presentar su licencia de pesca vigente.

De la tenencia de animales silvestres en cautiverio

En el caso de tenencia de aves de plumaje en cautiverio en aviarios con dimensiones mínimas de 4 m cúbicos adecuadamente acondicionados, se establece un límite de 15 aves en total por un aviario por permisionario con licencia.
