1st-That by means of Law No. 5100 of November 15, 1972 and Executive Decrees No. 7901-A of January 16, 1978 and No. 11148-A of February 15, 1980, ratified by Law No. 6794 of December 27, 27, 1982, Manuel Antonio National Park was established, with the purpose of protecting the existing ecosystems in the area and its scenic beauty.
2nd-That by means of Executive Decree No. 29177-MINAE of November 17, 2000, the Maritime Terrestrial Zone of Playa Rey, Playa Savegre, Boca del río Savegre and Boca del río Portalón and the adjacent wetland zones were added to Manuel Antonio National Park.
3rd-That with the purpose of giving full protection to the habitats that make up Manuel Antonio National Park, it is necessary to also integrate into this National Park the sea mouth of the Quebrada Camaronera, located on its northwestern limit, which constitutes a "Ría" where the ebb and flow of tides and the mixture with the fresh water of the stream form an ecosystem where animal and plant species typical of coastal-marine environments subsist.
