The indigenous reserves established in executive decrees numbers 5904-G of April 10, 1976, 6036-G of June 12, 1976, 6037-G of June 15, 1976, 7267-G and 7268-G of August 20, 1977, as well as the *Guaymi de Conteburica Indigenous Reserve (Reserva Indígena Guaymi de Conteburica), are declared indigenous reserves.
The boundaries set for the reserves, in the cited decrees, may not be varied by reducing the area thereof, except by express law.
*(Through Article 1 of executive decree No. 8514 of May 2, 1978, its name is modified, Article 2 establishes its boundaries, and Article 3 adds the Guaymí de Abrojos-Montezuma Indigenous Reserve (Reserva Indígena Guaymí de Abrojos-Montezuma) as an annex. Through Article 1 of executive decree No. 13545 of April 26, 1982, its name is modified, Article 2 redefines its boundaries, and Article 3 indicates that the Guaymí de Conteburica Indigenous Reserve is composed of the hamlets (caseríos) of Alto Conté, La Vaca, Río Claro, Litoral, and La Peñita. Through Article 3 of executive decree No. 16052 of December 3, 1984, it is indicated that the name is Guaymi de Conteburica Indigenous Reserve. Through Article 1 of executive decree No. 18508 of August 24, 1988, the Guaymí de Osa Indigenous Reserve (Reserva Indígena Guaymí de Osa) is added as an annex to the Guaymí de Conteburica Indigenous Reserve, and Article 2 establishes the boundaries of the Guaymí de Osa Indigenous Reserve. Through Article 1 of executive decree No. 20469 of May 20, 1991, it is established that the Guaymí de Osa Indigenous Reserve is an Independent Reserve from any other indigenous reserve and shall enjoy the same rights and duties as the other legally recognized indigenous reserves. Through Article 1 of executive decree No. 29450 of March 22, 2001, the boundaries of the Guaymí de Conteburica Indigenous Reserve are reformed, and Article 3 establishes that for the purposes of the "Territorial Administrative Division of the Republic of Costa Rica (Dirección Territorial Administrativa de la República de Costa Rica)", the Guaymí de Conteburica Indigenous Reserve is composed of the hamlets: Alto Conte, La Vaca, Río Claro, Progreso, Las Vegas, Santa Rosa, La Peñita, Carones, Río Coco, and Río Caña Blanca. Subsequently, through Article 1 of executive decree No. 29960 of October 26, 2001, the Abrojo de Montezuma Indigenous Reserve (Reserva Indígena de Abrojo de Montezuma) is established as an Indigenous reserve independent from any other reserve, ceasing to be an annex of the Guaymí de Conteburica Indigenous Reserve, and Article 2 indicates its delimitation).
