The boundaries of the Cariari National Wetland are described as follows: starting from a cartographic point with coordinates 220750 N and 637650 E, located at the mouth of the Moín River, specifically in Moín Bay , the Wetland includes the Moín River upstream to the confluence with the Blanco River at the point with coordinates 221275 N and 634025 E; it continues along the Tortuguero Canal to the point with coordinates 227650 N and 628550 E, located at Dos Bocas. From here, the Wetland includes the channel of the Las Vueltas River to the confluence with the Palacio River at the point with coordinates 228650 N and 627075 E; it continues along the Tortuguero Canal to the intersection with the Pascual River at the point with coordinates 232025 N and 624950 E. It continues downstream along the Pascual River to the Mouth of the Malina River, at the point with coordinates 285500 N and 625000 E; it continues along the channel of the Matina River upstream to the point with coordinates 234000 N and 623650 E, corresponding to the bifurcation of the Tortuguero Canal. It continues along the Tortuguero Canal, also including González Channel and Urpiana Lagoon , until intersecting with the Madre de Dios Swamp at coordinates 242100 N and 616650 E; it continues along the Madre de Dios Swamp to the Mouth of the Pacuare River at the point with coordinates 245700 N and 614700 E. From here it continues upstream along the Pacuare River to the point with coordinates 246200 N and 612850 E, corresponding to the bifurcation of the Tortuguero Canal; it continues along said canal to the confluence with the Pacuare Swamp at the point with coordinates 249600 N and 609850 E; it proceeds along the Pacuare Swamp (Chiquero River) downstream, including Caldera Lagoon to the confluence with the Parismina River at the point with coordinates 252600 N and 608100 E; it continues downstream along the Parismina River to its mouth. From here it continues along the Parismina Swamp, including Soto Channel until intersecting with California Channel at the point with coordinates 258000 N 602650 E, which corresponds to the boundary of Tortuguero National Park. Also included are the adjacent channels such as the channel of the Toro River from its confluence with the main canal to the point with coordinates 224650 N and 628000 E; the channel of the Palacio River upstream to the point with coordinates 227000 N and 226500 E; the channel of the Pascual River upstream to the point with coordinates 231950 N and 623400 E; the channel of Negro Channel upstream to the point with coordinates 241600 N and 614900 E; the channel of the Chiquero River upstream to the point with coordinates 248500 N and 609600 E. Also included is Plaset Lagoon and the artificial canal that connects the Pascual River with the Matina River.
