The tourism development of the islands of the Gulf of Nicoya is hereby declared of public interest; for which purpose, the State, through its public institutions, may promote the development of infrastructure (public, road, maritime, connectivity, drinking water, services, among others) and investments in tourism in the area, under a scheme of sustainable development and proper environmental management, which strengthen the social and economic condition of said territories. Likewise, the State may support all initiatives that promote local development and the activities of the small and medium-sized enterprises of their inhabitants, linked to tourism development.
The State shall evaluate, every two years, the impact of the projects on the natural resource present on the islands of the Gulf of Nicoya.
