The IFRS S1 and S2 Standards are adopted by the Colegio de Contadores Públicos de Costa Rica as of January 1, 2024. Their application shall be voluntary as of January 1, 2024, and mandatory according to the following schedule:
- a)Companies with a public obligation to render accounts, supervised and regulated by CONASSIF, and companies classified as large taxpayers before the Tax Administration, shall report in 2028 the information for the fiscal year-end of December 31, 2027.
- b)Other entities outside the categories mentioned in subsections a) and b) that apply the International Financial Reporting Standards may adopt the International Financial Reporting Standards related to sustainability, IFRS S1 and S2, in the period that the entity's management deems appropriate.
- c)For entities that apply the International Financial Reporting Standard for SMEs, it shall not be mandatory until the standard so requires and determines it on a mandatory basis. In the case of public entities regulated by the National Accounting Office, they shall abide by the provisions that the National Accounting Office, as the governing body, issues on the matter.
This regulation is effective as of its publication date.
