DECLARATION OF THE HUMMINGBIRD SPECIES "AMAZILIA BOUCARDI" AND "MICROCHERA CUPREICEPS", AS A NATIONAL SYMBOL OF THE WILDLIFE OF COSTA RICA
DECREES:
The hummingbirds of the species "Amazilia boucardi" and "Microchera cupreiceps" are hereby declared a national symbol of the wildlife of Costa Rica and of the country's commitment to the protection of the habitats they occupy.
The Ministry of Environment and Energy (Minae) is responsible for:
The Ministry of Public Education (MEP) shall include, in its educational and awareness programs, the protection of hummingbirds and their natural habitat. Other government institutions, non-governmental organizations, public and private companies may also develop initiatives that promote the conservation of hummingbirds and their habitat, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 7554, Organic Law of the Environment, of October 4, 1995; the Wildlife Conservation Law, of October 30, 1992 and the Regulation to Law No. 7317, Wildlife Conservation Law, of October 30, 1992, reform of Executive Decree No. 32633-Minae, of March 10, 2005, and repeal of Executive Decrees No. 10-Mirenem, of April 16, 1993 and No. 35463-Minae-MEP, of June 4, 2009.
The Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) may use the image of the hummingbird (species Amazilia boucardi and Microchera cupreiceps) for its advertising campaigns, at the local and international level, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 7554, Organic Law of the Environment, of October 4, 1995; the Wildlife Conservation Law, of October 30, 1992 and the Regulation to Law No. 7317, Wildlife Conservation Law, of October 30, 1992, reform of Executive Decree No. 32633-Minae, of March 10, 2005, and repeal of executive decrees No. 10-Mirenem, of April 16, 1993 and No. 35463-Minae-MEP, of June 4, 2009.

DECRETA:
Se declara a los colibríes de las especies "Amazilia boucardi" y "Microchera cupreiceps" símbolo nacional de la fauna de Costa Rica y del compromiso del país con la protección de los hábitats que ocupan.
Le corresponde al Ministerio de Ambiente y Energía (Minae):
El Ministerio de Educación Pública (MEP) incluirá, en sus programas educativos y de sensibilización, la protección de los colibríes y su hábitat natural. Las demás instituciones de gobierno, organizaciones no gubernamentales, empresas públicas y privadas también podrán desarrollar iniciativas que impulsen la conservación de los colibríes y su hábitat, de conformidad con lo establecido en la Ley N° 7554, Ley Orgánica del Ambiente, de 4 de octubre de 1995; la Ley de Conservación de la Vida Silvestre, de 30 de octubre de 1992 y el Reglamento de la Ley N° 7317, Ley de Conservación de la Vida Silvestre, de 30 de octubre de 1992, reforma del Decreto Ejecutivo N° 32633-Minae, de 10 de marzo de 2005, y derogatoria de los Decretos Ejecutivos N° 10-Mirenem, de 16 de abril de 1993 y N° 35463-Minae-MEP, de 4 de junio de 2009.
El Instituto Costarricense de Turismo (ICT) podrá usar la imagen del colibrí (especies Amazilia boucardi y Microchera cupreiceps) para sus campañas publicitarias, a nivel local e internacional, de conformidad con lo establecido en la Ley N° 7554, Ley Orgánica del Ambiente, de 4 de octubre de 1995; la Ley de Conservación de la Vida Silvestre, de 30 de octubre 1992 y el Reglamento de la Ley N° 7317, Ley de Conservación de la Vida Silvestre, de 30 de octubre de 1992, reforma del Decreto Ejecutivo N° 32633-Minae, de 10 de marzo de 2005, y derogatoria de los decretos ejecutivos N° 10-Mirenem, de 16 de abril de 1993 y N° 35463-Minae- MEP, de 4 de junio de 2009.
