Engineer Álvaro Salas Picado, coordinator of the Sustainable Production and Consumption Unit of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), in official letter No. DIGECA-326-2026 dated 14 July 2026, communicated the following:
“Warm greetings. As part of the follow-up on the implementation of the Institutional Environmental Management Programs (Programas de Gestión Ambiental Institucional, PGAI), the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), through the Directorate of Environmental Quality Management (Dirección de Gestión de la Calidad Ambiental, DIGECA), evaluated the annual report submitted by the Poder Judicial on 23 March 2026, within the established time limit.
As a result of the evaluation process, your institution received a score of 98,95%, placing it in the Green (+) band of the PGAI Implementation Traffic Light, which corresponds to institutions with excellent environmental management (available at: http://www.digeca.go.cr/areas/semaforo-de-implementacion-de-pgai).
The evaluation template is attached. It contains details of the observations, opportunities for improvement, and breakdown of the score obtained.
Based on the score obtained, we are pleased to inform you that your institution will receive the Environmental Excellence Recognition in the 10th Edition 2026. Congratulations to the entire institutional team on this achievement. This recognition is awarded pursuant to Resolution 0165-2021, published in La Gaceta No. 141 of 22 July 2021. The awards ceremony will take place in the last quarter of the year, at a place, date, and time that will be communicated to you in due course.
You are urged to incorporate the recommendations identified into this year’s management so that improvement actions may be reflected in the next report. El ingeniero Álvaro Salas Picado, coordinador de Unidad de Producción y Consumo Sostenibles, del Ministerio de Ambiente y Energía (MINAE), en oficio N°DIGECA-326-2026 del 14 de julio de 2026, comunicó lo siguiente:
“Reciba un cordial saludo. En el marco del seguimiento a la implementación de los Programas de Gestión Ambiental Institucional (PGAI), el Ministerio de Ambiente y Energía (MINAE), por medio de la Dirección de Gestión de la Calidad Ambiental (DIGECA), realizó la evaluación del informe anual presentado por el Poder Judicial el 23 de marzo de 2026, dentro del plazo establecido.
Como resultado del proceso de evaluación, su institución obtuvo una calificación de 98,95%, lo que la ubica en la franja Verde (+) del Semáforo de Implementación del PGAI, correspondiente a instituciones con una excelente gestión ambiental, (disponible en: http://www.digeca.go.cr/areas/semaforo-de-implementacion-de-pgai).
Se adjunta la plantilla de evaluación, la cual contiene el detalle de las observaciones, oportunidades de mejora y el desglose de la calificación obtenida.
A partir de la calificación obtenida, se comunica con satisfacción que su institución será galardonada con el Reconocimiento Excelencia Ambiental en la X Edición 2026. Se extiende una felicitación a todo el equipo de trabajo institucional por este logro. Este reconocimiento se otorga con fundamento en la Resolución 0165-2021, publicada en la Gaceta N.° 141 del 22 de julio de 2021. El acto de entrega de estos galardones se llevará a cabo en el último trimestre del año, en el lugar, fecha y hora que se les estará informando oportunamente.
Se les insta a incorporar las recomendaciones señaladas en la gestión del presente año, de manera que las acciones de mejora puedan verse reflejadas en el próximo informe. La implementación efectiva del PGAI no solo contribuye al cumplimiento de la normativa ambiental vigente, sino que también favorece la optimización de recursos, fortalece la cultura ambiental institucional y posiciona a la institución como referente en sostenibilidad dentro del sector público.
Asimismo, se recuerda que el Programa de Gestión Ambiental Institucional (PGAI) de su institución concluye su período de ejecución durante el año 2026. En virtud de lo anterior, deberá gestionarse la actualización correspondiente para el nuevo quinquenio 2027–2031, conforme a lo establecido en el Decreto Ejecutivo N.° 36499-S-MINAE y su reforma, de manera que se garantice la continuidad de la planificación, implementación y seguimiento de la gestión ambiental institucional”.
